Akutami Might Be Setting Up a Final Despair for Yuji in Jujutsu Kaisen Before His Actual Awakening

As Jujutsu Kaisen reaches its boiling point, the intensity continues to increase. Gege Akutami’s limitless imagination and captivating storytelling have kept the audience on their toes, with each week bringing a new surprise. The most shocking moment so far has been Yuta Okkotsu’s unexpected return to the battle, using Kenjaku’s technique to inhabit Gojo Satoru’s body.

Throughout the story, Yuji Itadori has consistently been at the forefront, often being impacted by events in some capacity. Based on the current development, it is possible that Akutami has a final twist planned to trigger Yuji’s ultimate awakening, ultimately concluding the destructive cycle that is Jujutsu Kaisen.

This article should be taken as speculation.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Akutami’s Potential Final Tragedy for Yuji Before His True Awakening

From the start, Akutami has continuously subjected protagonist Yuji to misfortunes. Following the Junpei Yoshino-Mahito incident, the author has plunged Yuji into a state of suffering. However, each time, the pink-haired teenager has persevered through immense struggles and emerged victorious.

Despite facing numerous tragic incidents aimed at breaking his spirit, Yuji has persevered through it all. He has endured Ryomen Sukuna’s constant slander, the deaths of Kento Nanami, Nobara Kugisaki, and Choso, the destruction of Shibuya, Sukuna possessing Megumi Fushiguro, and the loss of Gojo Satoru. Despite the pain and suffering, Yuji continues to rise up and fight back each time.

Despite everything, Akutami may have one final challenge in store for Yuji – the death of his friend Megumi. Yuji’s awakening has not been fully realized, as he was unable to defeat the Demon King for unknown reasons. As a result, the author of Jujutsu Kaisen may choose to use Megumi’s death as the ultimate test for Yuji.

Despite developing friendships with nearly all of the characters in the series, Yuji’s closest connections are with Gojo, Nobara, and Megumi. With two of them now absent, Yuji’s primary objective is to rescue Megumi from Sukuna. As depicted in the manga, he is determined to do whatever it takes to save his friend, who is now the only one left by his side.

Despite being the one who initially interacted with Megumi and one of the main advocates against Yuji’s execution, his fate is now uncertain. Yuji’s mind was in disarray, with only one clear goal – to separate Sukuna’s soul from his own. However, the possibility of losing even this chance weighed heavily on him.

Considering Megumi’s apparent loss of desire to keep living and preference for death, as evidenced by Yuji’s brief connection with his soul, this is a valid concern. It is possible that this situation could trigger an overwhelming rage in Yuji, pushing him to a breaking point.

Considering Yuji’s track record, it is possible that he could potentially unlock his Domain and fully utilize his abilities in the event of this occurrence. This would ultimately grant fans the portrayal of the protagonist they have been eagerly anticipating.

Final Thoughts

If Gege Akutami, the creator of Jujutsu Kaisen, were to do this, fans would potentially be able to see a side of Yuji Itadori that has never been seen before. The charming, composed, and kind-hearted boy would step aside for something more sinister to emerge, and for a valid reason.

If Megumi were to pass away in this scenario, the merger would most likely be rendered invalid as Kenjaku had assigned Sukuna, also known as Megumi, as the successor. In such a situation, it is possible that Team Jujutsu High would have to confront a wild Yuji instead of the merging beast. Only time will reveal Akutami’s intentions.
