Despite the passing of Satoru Gojo in the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, fans have continued to speculate about potential ways for the Strongest Sorcerer to make a return. However, with the recent leak of spoilers from the latest chapter, it appears that the faint glimmer of hope may finally be extinguished for fans.
Despite the alleged spoilers, Yuta Okkotsu was able to successfully steal Kenjaku’s Cursed Technique and use it to take over Satoru Gojo’s body. As a result, Yuta’s consciousness was transferred into Gojo’s body, allowing him to take control. This turn of events effectively crushed any chances of Gojo being able to return.
As a result, it can be argued that Satoru Gojo’s character development has reached a standstill. Although some may argue that leaving it incomplete was acceptable, it ultimately resulted in a major failure.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Gojo’s Incomplete Character Arc and Unanswered Questions
As stated by a Jujutsu Kaisen enthusiast on X, @TheMelucifer, the unresolved nature of Satoru Gojo’s character has left fans, including themselves, with an unanswered inquiry: “Who exactly is Gojo Satoru?”
During the Shibuya Incident Arc, the fan noticed that Gojo began to show signs of an identity crisis when he encountered Pseudo-Geto. He was completely taken aback and filled with fear upon seeing his supposedly deceased friend alive and well. It is worth mentioning that Gojo had never displayed such a vulnerable expression before, much to the surprise of fans.
As the scene unfolds, Psedo-Geto unveils the Prison Realm. The eye at its core displays Gojo’s reflection, but instead of showing his face, it appears blackened.
As any avid follower of Jujutsu Kaisen would be aware, Akutami Gege’s storytelling draws inspiration from various elements such as arts, Japanese history, and Buddhism. This indicates that his artwork is purposeful and holds great significance. Upon researching “faceless arts,”@TheMelucifer discovered a recurring theme of “identity crisis.”
Satoru Gojo has experienced an ongoing identity crisis since his childhood, as he struggles to understand what truly defines him and how he can fit into society. Born with the immense powers of Gods and carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders, these abilities have become his defining characteristic, giving him unparalleled strength.
The most important moment for Suguru Geto’s question to Satoru Gojo was here.
“Are you the strongest because you’re Satoru Gojo? Or are you Satoru Gojo because you’re the strongest?”
It would not make sense for Gojo, who was defined by his strength, to fail at saving Suguru Geto and Megumi Fushiguro, let alone lose to Toji Fushiguro.
During the Hidden Inventory Arc, Gojo may have asked Masamichi Yaga if he was strong because he was beginning to question his own identity and strength. This could have been the reason for his inquiry.
Despite his immense strength, Gojo still seemed to be lacking something. Could it be a powerful ally? However, as shown in the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, having absolute strength often meant being alone, making an ally out of the question for Gojo. The only person who may have understood his loneliness was Ryomen Sukuna, but unfortunately, during their battle in Shinjuku, the King of Curses was too preoccupied with hurling insults at him.
The Jujutsu Kaisen fan @TheMelucifer then proceeded to search for the meaning of “identity crisis”in Buddhism, and the findings suggested themes of “love,””loneliness,”and “striving to attain.”As seen in chapter 236 of Jujutsu Kaisen, Gojo has always felt disconnected despite being revered by others. This serves as evidence that Gojo’s struggle with identity is heavily influenced by Buddhist teachings.
Although he has passed away, there is no possible way for him to discover his true identity. Considering the significant amount of time the Jujutsu Kaisen manga devoted to Gojo’s struggle with his identity, it would be illogical for his character development to remain unresolved, ultimately rendering the entire situation a colossal disappointment.
