Alex Albon, a star driver for Williams F1, jokingly claimed that Lando Norris is his grandmother’s preferred driver after they ran into each other at the airport and shared a photo together.
Norris and Albon’s grandmother unexpectedly bumped into each other at Narita International Airport in Japan, just before the Japanese Grand Prix taking place this weekend.
Albon shared a picture of F1 driver Norris and his grandmother on X (previously known as Twitter), accompanied by a series of text messages discussing the selfie.
Albon’s grandmother excitedly messaged, “Guess who I ran into at Narita Airport? I called out to him and introduced myself as Alex’s grandmother. One of my dreams came true – I got to meet Norris!”
“Inform Alex in order to avoid Lando assuming that an elderly woman simply requested to take a photo with him.”
Albon accompanied the messages with a photo and screenshot, adding the comment: “It looks like Grandma has a new favorite driver.”

On Sunday, April 7, at the Japanese Grand Prix, Albon will be eager to secure his and Williams’ first points of the season.
James Vowles, the team principal, selected the 28-year-old to pilot the sole Williams car at the Australian Grand Prix, even though he had crashed the FW46 during practice.
The Grove-based outfit is currently at P8 in the constructors’ standing, tied on zero points with Sauber and Alpine.
Vowles is eagerly anticipating Albon’s return to form. Last season, Albon was responsible for all but one of Williams’ 28 points, leading them to their best finish in six years.
