Kim So-hee, who gained widespread recognition for her remarkable talents in dancing and singing as the runner-up on “K-pop Star 6,” has recently made waves with her decision to marry and step back from the entertainment scene. She later solidified her status as the visual member of the girl group ALICE.
In 2016, she showcased her abilities on “K-pop Star Season 6 – The Last Chance,” impressing both the audience and judges by finishing in second place. Judge Park Jin-young lauded her skills, noting, “So-hee is undeniably the ace of this stage” and “She’s the best dancer this season.” Following this success, she debuted in 2017 as the lead vocalist and dancer of ALICE. Despite her stunning performances and beautiful voice, the group faced challenges in gaining mainstream traction largely due to long pauses between activities and inadequate promotion from their agency.
Even though some fans labeled her as the “troubled child,” Kim So-hee pursued various opportunities in the entertainment industry. She took on acting roles in projects like the film “Idol Recipe” and the drama series “Duty After School.” However, in April 2024, she made a heartfelt announcement on Instagram, revealing her intention to retire from her entertainment career as she prepares to marry.
A representative from her agency disclosed that, with the end of her exclusive contract, she chose to retire following her engagement to a businessman who is 15 years older than her. In her announcement, Kim So-hee shared her joy about her relationship of roughly one year and expressed her gratitude to her fans.
In her touching letter, she conveyed her heartfelt thanks to her supporters, stating, “Since I debuted with ALICE, I’ve been blessed with so much love from all of you, which helped me through tough times.” She went on to share, “I have found someone who has become my pillar of strength, and I want to live my next chapter as Kim So-hee. I promise to embrace happiness, just as you have embraced me.”
Following the news of Kim So-hee’s marriage and her retirement from the industry, fans and netizens flooded social media with supportive comments, saying things like “Congratulations on your marriage, even if it’s a bit late” and “Wishing you nothing but happiness in your next phase,” showcasing their heartfelt support as she embarks on this new journey.
