Alien: Romulus director banned on Reddit for ‘impersonating’ himself

Fede Alvarez attempted to demonstrate support for Alien enthusiasts, but instead ended up being prohibited from the largest Alien subreddit.

The director of Romulus, The Alien, made a surprise appearance on LV426, a highly active subreddit dedicated to discussing the entire Alien and Predator franchise.

Alverez intended to discuss his movie. He provided a few remarks, informing a fan that Romulus was “an ideal starting point”and confirming an unexpected relationship between two characters.

Upon making only a few posts, Alverez was unexpectedly banned. He was accused of impersonating director Fede Alverez, which led to his ban.

Alverez posted the ban message on his X/Twitter, but he appeared to have a good sense of humor about it.

The comment that resulted in the director of Alien: Romulus getting banned appears to be harmless. In response to a user’s question about how he knew Romulus was the ideal starting point, Alvarez confidently stated, “Because I am the one who made the film.”

The mods of LV426 were quick to rectify the error by unbanning Alvarez’s account as soon as his tweet gained widespread attention.

“Apologies,”mod Gregorwhat explained in a post. “In summary, a Fede imposter was reported and I promptly banned the account. However, Fede was quickly reinstated and had a cordial conversation with us.”

Ever since the post, Alverez has not made any further social media posts. However, the mods did reveal a message from him where he expressed that LV426 is his preferred subreddit. Hence, if you’re interested in gaining insights about Alien: Romulus directly from the director, that subreddit may be the ideal destination for you.

Romulus is currently showing in theaters. For those interested in more, information about the director’s plans for a sequel, the interesting connection between Alien and Blade Runner, and the official canon status of Alien vs Predator can all be found online.
