Alien: Romulus – Franchise’s Highest Rotten Tomatoes Score in 40 Years

According to Rotten Tomatoes, Alien: Romulus has received one of the highest scores in the franchise since Alien and Aliens, making it the best movie in the series.

Despite the success of the first two Alien movies as some of the greatest horror films in history, the franchise’s later installments have been inconsistent. While Alien 3 has its supporters, Alien: Resurrection features a thrilling underwater sequence and a haunting finale. However, the series takes a downturn with the chaotic crossover films of AvP.

Despite its success at the box office, Prometheus, directed once again by Ridley Scott, received mixed reviews. Its sequel, Alien: Covenant, was unable to win over its critics and restore their trust in the franchise.

Director Fede Álvarez revealed that Romulus, the latest installment in the Alien franchise, takes on a more traditional Xenomorph horror theme. It takes place between Alien and Aliens, following a group of scavengers who board an abandoned spaceship. However, their exploration comes at a high price, according to Álvarez.

Despite some concerns and the controversy surrounding its use of “digital necromancy,”the film has been successful, currently holding an 83% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It ranks third in the franchise, behind Alien (93%) and Aliens (94%). See the complete rankings below:
