Alien: Romulus sequel could bring back David and end his story

After the release of Alien: Romulus, fans are speculating whether a sequel will finally bring an end to the prequel series that began with Prometheus.

Even though Alien: Romulus is a continuation of the Xenomorph story, Ridley Scott’s original intention was to create a third film that would have served as the conclusion to his prequel series.

In Alien: Covenant, Michael Fassbender portrayed two Androids: David 8, who was involved in the creation of the Xenomorphs, and a newer model called Walter 1. The film’s ending leaves viewers on a cliffhanger as David secretly switches places with Walter.

Despite the fact that the sequel never received approval, viewers discover in the concluding scenes that David has managed to sneak Chestburster embryos onto the Covenant colonization vessel and has ensnared the remaining crew in stasis pods.

Despite the success of Alien: Romulus, some fans are eager to see a return to David’s story arc.

While Prometheus greatly boosted the franchise, Alien: Covenant was a major disappointment, causing Fox to shift gears and ultimately resulting in the creation of Alien: Romulus.

Currently, Alien: Romulus has become a success. As of now, it has grossed $121.8 million with a budget of $80 million, making it possible for the film to break even. Despite director Fede Alverez not mentioning a potential sequel for Romulus, fans on the Alien subreddit LV426 have expressed their desire for a continuation of David

User MrMysterious 23 expressed in a post that there is an untold story waiting to be told, and after the big cliffhanger in Alien Covenant, the conclusion of that story is necessary. They also suggested that a film showcasing David’s eccentric actions with 2000 colonists could be an exciting and thrilling addition to the franchise.

Despite the success of the newest film, some fans aren’t as optimistic. One of them noted, “The studio is likely to use the success of this film as justification for not revisiting the previous one.”

Some fans suggested that the franchise should consider branching out into new territories. “There may come a time when viewers become weary of seeing the same plotlines over and over again,”one fan stated. “I believe it would be more exciting if they took risks and experimented with something that feels more innovative.”

Despite not commenting further on a potential sequel or follow-up, Ridley Scott remains involved as an Executive Producer for the upcoming live-action series Alien: Earth, which serves as a prequel to the original Alien film.
