Alien: Romulus’ Xenomorph Reveal Changes the Ending of Aliens in a Big Way

The opening of Alien: Romulus reveals a surprising link to the Xenomorph from the original Alien released in 1979, potentially altering one of Ellen Ripley’s most memorable scenes.

At the conclusion of the original film, Ripley ejects “Big Chap”(the endearing moniker bestowed upon the initial Xenomorph by fans) into the void of space and activates the engines to eliminate it.

Nevertheless, Romulus affirms a well-established belief: these troublesome aliens are able to endure the emptiness of outer space. The movie’s initial scene shows a Weyland-Yutani team discovering a mysterious item – only to discover that it is a dormant Xeno, the exact same one from the previous installment.

According to a fan on Reddit, the fact that Xenomorphs can survive the harsh and freezing environment of space raises questions about the fate of the Queen from Aliens.

“It appears that the Queen would have no difficulty performing the same action. However, I am uncertain about the idea of both of Ripley’s iconic final kills being altered in a way that diminishes their impact,”they expressed.

It is possible that she was pulled into the planet’s atmosphere, since the Sulaco (the escape dropship they used to flee) was in orbit around LV-426 when Ripley ejected the Queen from the airlock.

One fan humorously commented, “Xenomorphs may be tough, but they can’t handle the extreme conditions of atmospheric reentry and crashing into the surface at terminal velocity.”Another fan pointed out, “Considering how close they were to the planet, it was inevitable that she would be pulled in by its gravity. And she wasn’t moving fast enough to escape its pull.”

Despite the possibility of the Queen’s death, some speculated that there could still be a scenario where it survived. One user suggested that the Queen could have been salvaged and the crew decimated. The situation would be even more intriguing if the ship crashed on a planet, managed to survive, and created a massive colony.

One person predicted that a filmmaker will inevitably revive the Queen from Hadley’s Hope in a future Alien film. They believe that this perfectly captures the horror of the Xenomorphs – there is no winning or defeating them, only escaping and hoping to never encounter them again. Another person echoed this sentiment, stating that the Queen would be a perfect addition to the terror of the Xenomorphs in a new film.
