Dead by Daylight developer Behaviour Interactive is continually watching the meta. While Killer powers cannot be changed between seasons, the most often used perks by Killers and Survivors can. The current meta, including the most commonly used perks in the game, is changed and rebalanced with each Mid-Chapter update to shake up how people play the game. This guide details every perk change in Tools of Torment’s Mid-Chapter update.

The following perk modifications are based on Behaviour Interactive’s most recent patch notes. This includes input from PTB players who have been playing with the new meta.

This list contains every Survivor perk that will be altered in some way as part of the Dead by Dawn Tools of Torment mid-Chapter update.

Boon: Circle of Healing

You don’t have to be a Dead by Daylight veteran to realize that this perk appears frequently due to how effective it is as a healing ability. In the future, this perk will no longer allow Survivors to heal without a Med-Kit. It instead gives Survivors a 50%/75%/100% bonus when they heal others. This benefit does not apply to people using a Med-Kit to heal. All Survivors within the Circle of Healing will have their auras visible to all Survivors, making it easy to recognize when you need to assist your fellow gamers.

Dead Hard

Dead Hard will trigger after you are unhooked or unhook yourself, thanks to the Mid-Chapter update. While active, you can activate the Endurance status effect by pressing the ability button while in the injured state and running. The perk will then deactivate, and you will acquire the Tired status effect.

Overzealous

Upon cleansing a Totem, it now offers a repair speed bonus, which is increased for Hex Totems. This perk will now trigger when blessing a Totem after the Mid-Chapter update, and the bonus to repair speed has been increased to 8%/9%/10%.

All of the perks listed below are being changed in the Mid-Chapter update for Tools of Torment utilized by Killers.

Call of Brine

This perk has become increasingly popular in the previous year because it may utterly regress a Generator if you’re skilled at chasing off Survivors. Call of Brine’s power will be decreased to 115%/120%/125% regression speed after the Mid-Chapter update.

Gearhead

After a Survivor loses a health state, the aura of the following Survivor is revealed to earn a superb skill check. Following the Mid-Chapter update, when a Survivor loses a health status, the perk will activate for 30 seconds. Each survivor who makes a great skill check during this time gets their aura shown for 6/7/8 seconds.

Overcharge

Overcharge is another perk that has grown in popularity throughout the course of Dead by Daylight’s existence. The regression rate for Generators will be reduced to 130% following the Mid-Chapter update. To keep this perk useful, the beginning regression speed has been adjusted to 85%. The final update to this perk is a 2%/3%/4% penalty for failing a skill check.

Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance

When the Mid-Chapter update is published, this perk will start with 4 Tokens, with one expended for every Survivor hooked on a Scourge Hook. That expended Token causes the Generator with the most progress to explode and begin losing progress. Tiers will also be changed to 15%/20%/25%.

Why are perks altered or rebalanced during mid-Chapter updates?

Perks in Dead by Daylight should be modified and rebalanced to keep the game new. The game becomes predictable and dull if players continue to use the same perks. These benefits make Survivors and Killers as powerful as they can be in their jobs, leaving little space for creativity. Updating the way these perks operate will make a commotion in the community as people look for the best new perks to employ, ensuring that the game remains enjoyable to play for years to come. Keep an eye on the official Development Updates website to see what Behaviour Interactive is working on.
