One week has passed since the release of Wuthering Waves and players have already dedicated numerous hours to completing quests and discovering the game’s world. At this point, most players should have accumulated sufficient resources to summon characters from the gacha banner. To assist in your character selection, here is a comprehensive tier list and overview of all the characters in Wuthering Waves, ranked from least to most powerful, enabling you to select the perfect Resonator for your team.

Every Resonator in Wuthering Waves Ranked

The characters in Wuthering Waves have been categorized from S-tier to D-tier, with the latter being the lowest ranking. If you continue scrolling, you will find additional details about each character and their strengths and weaknesses in the current meta of Wuthering Waves.

  • S-tier (Best) – Jiyan, Calcharo, Verina
  • A-tier – Encore, Danjin
  • B-tier – Jianxin, Sanhua, Lingyang, Mortefi, Rover
  • C-tier – Chixia, Baizhi, Aalto
  • D-tier (Worst) – Taoqi, Yangyang, Yuanwu

Jiyan – S-tier

Jiyan is an exceptional character when it comes to dealing high damage to a single target. His specialty lies in using Aero attacks to annihilate his enemies. Jiyan was the first character to be introduced in the Wuthering Waves event banner and his unique broadsword weapon amplifies his destructive power. Many consider him to be the top DPS character in the game.

Calcharo – Top Tier

Jiyan’s alternative pull is Calcharo, and for good reason. As an Electro DPS, Calcharo is capable of consistently unleashing powerful damage-dealing abilities. He is a well-rounded character who can excel in fights on his own and defeat even the toughest adversaries singlehandedly.

Verina – S-tier

Verina stands out as an exceptional support character in Wuthering Waves due to the lack of strong support options. With her regenerative Spectro powers, she can heal allies and prolong battles, making her a valuable addition to any team. Not only does she excel as a healer, but she also makes for an excellent beginner character.

Encore – A-tier

With her exceptional abilities, Encore stands out as one of the most powerful Fusion-type characters in the game. She can unleash devastating bursts of damage and enhance her subsequent basic attacks with even more strength. Despite her simplicity, she is a formidable force that should not be underestimated.

Danjin – Best Character

It can be challenging to master Danjin as a playable character because her effectiveness depends heavily on the player’s overall skill. She is a high-risk character who sacrifices her own health for increased damage. Her skill set demands precise timing for dodging, parrying, and attacking. However, despite the significant tradeoff in her stats, Danjin’s damage output makes her a valuable asset in battle if a player can successfully utilize her abilities.

Jianxin – Ranked as B-tier

Jianxin is a versatile fighter who excels in dealing substantial damage, defending against incoming attacks, and withstanding damage. She possesses the ability to inflict both single-target and AOE damage, as well as provide protective shields for her team and parry attacks while channeling. In summary, Jianxin is an excellent choice for beginners and is relatively user-friendly.

Sanhua – B-tier

Sanhua adds balance to teams with her exceptional DPS abilities, amidst the plethora of other great options available. She can serve as a sub-DPS or provide support through valuable buffs and powerful burst damage. As a Glacio DPS, she specializes in delivering devastating burst attacks, making her a valuable addition to any high-burst team composition.

Lingyang – B-tier

Lingyang is one character that requires a high level of finesse to excel with. His kit allows for mid-air attacks that deal significant Glacio damage. However, to fully utilize Lingyang’s abilities, players must have fluid movement and be skilled at parrying, which is the only drawback.

Kill me

Mortefi is a highly utilized support character in the game, known for his ability to apply the Coordinated Attacks effect, which boosts the damage dealt by allies to enemies. However, to fully unlock Mortefi’s potential, he must be paired with other players, which is why he ranks lower on this list.

Rover – B-tier

As the protagonist in Wuthering Waves, Rover is a strong and well-rounded character. While not extraordinary, Rover’s versatility in switching between different elements enables players to try out various builds. The character is typically used as a secondary DPS or support, making it a valuable addition to any team. Additionally, Rover is an excellent choice for beginners.

Chixia – C-tier

Chixia is a direct and efficient character, specializing in dealing high levels of damage in short bursts rather than sustained, constant damage over time. While she may not fit into any other roles besides DPS and sub-DPS, she is still capable of handling mid-to-late game content just as well as any other character. However, her lack of versatility in the current meta may make her less desirable for certain compositions.

Baizhi – C-tier

In addition to Verina, Baizhi is also a viable support option for players. Her skills enable her to heal allies and offer support, but her limited abilities can hold her back. While she excels as a support in the early stages of the game, she may struggle to keep up with stronger opponents in the late game. Despite being a free option, Verina remains the top choice for team compositions.

Aalto – C-tier

Aalto is a versatile character who synergizes well with Jiyan or any other Aero character. He possesses excellent mobility and decent damage, but his main strength lies in his ability to boost the team’s Aero damage. Apart from that, there are no particularly noteworthy elements in Aalto’s kit to get excited about.

Taoqi’s Tier Ranking

Despite Taoqi’s ability to increase her team’s damage output, that is the extent of her usefulness. While her fighting style may catch the attention of some players, she lacks any qualities that would make her a valuable investment of time and effort. In short, there are more favorable sub-DPS choices available.

Yangyang’s Tier Ranking

Although Yangyang is a decent starting character, her usefulness diminishes as the game progresses. Her abilities lack synergy with other characters and there is no noticeable advantage to including her in builds. In Wuthering Waves, she is simply an average character, nothing exceptional.

Yuanwu

Despite his ability to boost Electro damage, Yuanwu falls short in terms of damage compared to other sub-DPS characters on this list. Furthermore, he does not bring anything unique to the table and does not fit well within the current meta.

This is our list ranking the best and worst characters in Wuthering Waves, with a total of 238 characters.
