Furthermore, all Factions featured in XDefiant are inspired by beloved characters from popular Ubisoft titles including Far Cry, The Division, and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon.
What Is The Best Faction in XDefiant?
In XDefiant, selecting your desired Faction is largely based on personal preference as each class provides its own distinct qualities. Whether you prefer a more aggressive playstyle or a more calculated and methodical approach, there is a class suited for every player.
Freedom
The Caribbean island of Yara’s Libertad revolutionaries, who are prominently featured in Far Cry 6, are the primary healing-focused class in XDefiant. With a variety of abilities, they excel at providing healing support to both themselves and nearby allies, making them a top choice for players seeking to strengthen their team.
Abilities
- The Médico backpack, also known as the Ultra version, offers a significant increase in health and healing for a limited duration.
- Espíritu de Libertad (Passive) – The contagious spirit of freedom slowly heals you and nearby allies

Phantoms

Echelon

Echelon operatives are able to maintain their invisibility on the mini-map and use their skills to surprise their enemies and cause chaos. Additionally, they have the ability to reveal the location of enemy forces, giving their allies a valuable advantage in combat.

- The Sonar Goggles (Ultra) allow you to detect and track your enemies, while wielding the iconic Third Echelon 5.7 pistol to take them down.
- Undetectable (Passive): The agent remains hidden from enemy minimaps.
- Intel Suit (Ability): Reveals the whereabouts of nearby enemies to your team.
- The Digital Ghillie Suit ability makes the agent almost undetectable, but the effect is diminished while moving and aiming.
Cleaners
Taking cues from The Division 2, the Cleaners utilize fiery strategies to rid New York City of its impurities, and they carry the same infernal ferocity to XDefiant. Referred to as “experts in dealing damage”on the official website, they possess a formidable arsenal of abilities intended to wreak havoc.
Embrace your innate fiery nature with this faction, and when faced with intense situations, unleash the ultimate power of the Purifier—a formidable flamethrower that will undoubtedly make any opponents think twice before trying to confront you.
Abilities
- The Purifier (Ultra): Enemies are effectively sterilized by the use of a flamethrower.
- The passive ability, Incendiary Rounds, causes ammunition to deal additional burn damage while also reducing the weapon’s range.
- The Firebomb ability allows you to detonate a Molotov cocktail, resulting in explosive damage and setting the surrounding area on fire.
- Incinerator Drone (Ability): A napalm-delivering drone burns everything in its flight path.
DeadSec
The DedSec hackers are highly skilled in technology and possess a multitude of abilities. They can disrupt enemy HUDs, take control of deployable assets such as shields, turrets, and drones, and deploy independent Spiderbots to locate their enemies. Coming from various backgrounds, all members of DedSec share the same objective of disrupting and dismantling systems of control, whether they are technological or not.
Abilities
- Lockout (Ultra): Disable the enemies’ HUD, mini-map, and abilities in the affected area.
- The Fabricator (Passive) prints a new device once it has been deployed.
- The Spiderbot (Ability) allows the deployment of a Spiderbot which will stun the nearest enemy by latching onto their face.
- Hijack (Ability): Hack enemy-deployed abilities and make them your own.
