According to a recent report from a Korean media outlet, there has been speculation that BLACKPINK’s Jennie could be connected to a prominent chaebol family in South Korea. The speculation stems from PD Kim Hyung Jin’s new book, titled “World Informant”(literal translation), which is reportedly influenced by Jennie’s life. The book explores a fictional scenario in which global celebrities Jennie and PSY take part in a simulation at an international AI robot camera center.
Netizens wasted no time in digging for more details about Kim Hyung Jin, a well-known individual whose past became a subject of intense debate. One particular aspect that sparked widespread interest was the author’s introduction, in which Kim disclosed a shocking link – he is the offspring of the late Im Dae Hong, the creator of Miwon, a prominent brand of MSG owned by the Daesang Group conglomerate.
Im Dae Hong’s granddaughter, Im Se Ryung, is also a notable figure. She was previously married to Lee Jae Yong, the heir of Samsung, and is currently dating actor Lee Jung Jae.
Upon discovering that Kim Hyung Jin’s surname was not “Im,”despite his claimed lineage, netizens were quick to point out this interesting detail. It was soon speculated that he was born out of wedlock and later adopted by a family with the surname Kim. This has sparked further speculation that if Kim Hyung Jin is indeed Jennie’s father, she and Im Se Ryung may be half-cousins.
A further interesting detail is that Jennie’s biological mother is said to be a devoted admirer of Lee Jung Jae, and it is believed that she named Jennie after one of his well-known fictional personas. If this theory is accurate, it would bring the narrative to a satisfying conclusion.
Despite the ongoing speculation, both fans and netizens are eagerly anticipating an official statement from either Jennie’s agency or Kim Hyung Jin himself to address the rumors. As of now, the internet is abuzz with theories, connecting one of K-pop’s most prominent figures to a prominent chaebol family.
So far, Odd Atelier, which is Jennie’s label, has not released any additional information or made any statements.
