AMD surprise launches Ryzen 5 7600X3D but there’s a catch

AMD’s recent release of the Ryzen 5 7600X3D, exclusively available at MicroCenter, is a testament to the continued success of the Zen 4 platform despite initial doubts.

Despite the release of the latest Zen 5 9000 series CPUs, many individuals are still sticking with the previous Zen 4 platform. However, there is now an even more compelling reason to remain on the older architecture, with the introduction of AMD’s Ryzen 5 7600X3D.

Rumors of a new addition to the Zen 4 lineup had been circulating for some time. The chip has recently been unveiled, but unfortunately, it is currently only available in the US and exclusively at MicroCenter. Furthermore, the processor cannot be purchased separately.

The 7600X3D is exclusively available at Microcenter as part of a bundled package which includes an Asus TUF Gaming B6550-Plus Wi-Fi motherboard and 32 GB of DDR-6000 RAM. According to Tom’s Hardware, the total cost of this bundle is $450, which includes a $180 savings compared to purchasing each item separately.

Despite the significant discount, this still serves as a solid foundation for a PC gaming build. However, it may disappoint some PC builders who are unable to purchase the chip individually.

The Ryzen 5 7600X3D boasts a maximum boost clock of 4.7 GHz, with 1 MB of L2 cache per core and a total of 96 MB of L3 cache. Its TDP of 65 W ensures excellent power efficiency.

Although the specs may not seem remarkable at first glance, the X3D line is highly favored by PC gaming enthusiasts due to its stacked 3D V-Cache. This cache helps alleviate strain on the graphics card, resulting in a more seamless gaming experience.

There are strong justifications for selecting one of the X3D chips as our top choice for the best gaming CPU of 2024. Those searching for components to build a budget gaming PC would not be disappointed with this selection.
