YouTuber Accuses Korean Star IU of Political Activism in Controversial Video
On December 18, a YouTube video provocatively titled “I Reported IU to the CIA” was released, drawing immediate attention. The creator, who goes by the name “A” , made allegations against the famed K-pop artist, asserting that IU showed support for rallies calling for the impeachment of South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol. According to A, “IU actively supported those advocating for impeachment rallies and even provided food to foster the impeachment atmosphere.”
A continued to elaborate on these claims, suggesting that IU is trying to rally as many supporters as possible for the cause. “To amplify her influence,” A stated, “I reported her actions to the CIA and encourage others to follow suit regarding such woke and admirable Korean celebrities.”
In an emotional display during the video, A expressed anger towards IU, stating, “IU, let’s see you get screwed this time.” This provocative tone has sparked a widespread discussion about the intersection of celebrity influence and political activism.
Prior to publishing the video, A reportedly sent an email to the CIA, reiterating claims of IU’s support for Yoon’s impeachment. In this correspondence, A accused IU of financially backing a restaurant supplying meals to protesters near an impeachment rally, describing her actions as attempts to encourage public demonstrations.
The email also highlighted IU’s substantial popularity in Korea and her significant impact on public opinion. A stressed that the U.S. government would likely disapprove of the impeachment movements within Korea. Moreover, A pointed out concerns regarding reported visa rejections faced by Koreans participating in protests. “I am reporting IU for her inappropriate actions in fostering an impeachment atmosphere,” A concluded in the email.
The controversial YouTuber, known for their channel “American Parangi,” currently boasts a subscriber count of approximately 85,600 followers, signifying a considerable audience base that could amplify the message further.
