Despite only a single comment, T-ara’s Jiyeon and baseball player Hwang Jae-gyun found themselves at the center of divorce rumors. Netizens fueled the speculation by pointing out that Jiyeon did not celebrate her birthday with Hwang Jae-gyun.
Despite this, Jiyeon has already uploaded a video on YouTube showcasing their birthday celebration. Additionally, a trusted acquaintance has confirmed that there are no issues between Jiyeon and Hwang Jae-gyun.
Upon observing Jiyeon’s YouTube channel, it can be seen that she shared a post stating “My birthday is tomorrow. I always make a conscious effort to live each day with joy, as if it were my birthday, yet I cannot contain my excitement as it draws near. Even though we were unable to do an escape room, it brought back memories of the proposal day”accompanied by a 16-minute video.
In the video, Jiyeon and Hwang Jae-gyun go to a restaurant that holds special memories of their proposal and enjoy a romantic meal to celebrate her birthday. According to a phone call with Ten Asia on June 26th, a close associate of Jiyeon strongly refuted the recent speculation of divorce, stating that upon consulting with her, it was confirmed to be untrue. The couple’s relationship is reportedly free of any issues, despite concerns from some.
The associate added that Jiyeon perceives the situation as a misunderstanding and is hesitant to formally address it. Believing the accusations to be false, she is confident that they will eventually be resolved.
On June 25th, speculation about a potential divorce between Jiyeon and Hwang Jae-gyun started circulating on an online forum after commentator Lee Gwang-gil mentioned it during a radio broadcast on KNN. Lee Gwang-gil brought up their supposed divorce during a game between the Lotte Giants and Kia Tigers.
During a commercial break, Lee Gwang-gil shared with others that he had heard from the director that Hwang Jae-gyun was divorced. After realizing his error, Lee Gwang-gil took responsibility and expressed his regret, stating, “I mistakenly mentioned the divorce of Hwang Jae-gyun and Jiyeon on the broadcast without verifying the information from a newspaper. I apologize for speaking without confirming the facts.”He also reached out to Hwang Jae-gyun directly to clarify the situation and apologize.
Despite the explanations and apology, the speculation of divorce continued. The ongoing rumors were fueled by Jiyeon’s decision to temporarily halt her YouTube channel, the absence of Hwang Jae-gyun at her birthday celebration that she shared on social media, and recent photos showing her without a wedding ring on her left hand.
