Analysis: Chainsaw Man Chapter 167 Reveals the Harsh Reality of Denji and Asa’s Relationship

Despite fans’ hopes for a romantic development between Denji and the Bomb Girl in Chainsaw Man chapter 167, manga creator Tatsuki Fujimoto delivered a story twist that was not well-received. Despite the Reze Arc leading to anticipation for a potential relationship, this wish was ultimately left unfulfilled.

Instead, the manga introduces fans to Asa Mitaka, the series’ second protagonist who eventually becomes the host of the War Devil, Yoru. Fans hope for a fairytale romance between Asa and Denji, as they both share similar circumstances. This hope seems to have a chance when Asa shows some affection towards Denji, but ultimately, things take a disastrous turn in chapter 167.

Please note: This article includes spoilers from the Chainsaw Man manga.

What occurred between Denji and Asa in Chainsaw Man chapter 167?

Recently, the Chainsaw Man manga has been exploring Denji’s struggle with his primal desires. Due to his depression, Katana Man proposed taking Denji to a brothel. To everyone’s surprise, Denji agreed. However, he soon regretted giving in to his urges and realized that he should have been focusing on finding his adoptive sister Nayuta instead.

Upon witnessing this, War Devil Yoru resolved to assist Denji in conquering his carnal desires. While doing so, she recalled having previously kissed him. This led to Yoru engaging in a prolonged kiss with Denji, without either of their consent. Ultimately, Yoru’s actions resulted in Denji and Asa being forced into a physical intimacy that left them both traumatized. Following this, Yoru relinquished control of the body to Asa, leaving Denji and Asa to cope with the aftermath of her actions.

Despite the advancements made, it was evident that Denji and Asa Mitaka’s potential relationship was never going to be a fairytale love story. Right from the start, it was a disaster waiting to happen, as chapter 167 later revealed.

It is important for fans to keep in mind that Denji and Asa are currently in high school. This means that the consequences of this event could follow them in the future and potentially impact their relationships.

What is Asa’s age in Chainsaw Man?

While the exact age of Asa Mitaka has not been revealed in the Chainsaw Man manga, it can be assumed that she is likely between the ages of 16 and 17. This is because, as many anime fans are aware, high school students in Japan typically fall within the age range of 16 to 18, depending on their birthdays. Therefore, it is reasonable to deduce that Asa falls somewhere within this age range.

One determining factor that still stands is Asa Mitaka’s current year in high school. As she is not a third-year student, this narrows down the possibilities for fans. This is due to the fact that Yoshida referred to Fami as his senior “senpai,”but did not address Asa in the same manner.

This implies that Hirofumi Yoshida is either in the same year as Asa or one year ahead. Considering this, he could possibly be a first-year or second-year student. Consequently, Asa, who could be either younger or the same age as Yoshida, could be 16 or 17 years old.
