In anticipation of Apple’s upcoming Let Loose event, renowned analyst Mark Gurman shares his insights on what we can expect, specifically focusing on the rumored updates to the iPad lineup.
Apple is set to unveil its updated iPad lineup today after a brief pause in updates. Despite numerous leaks and rumors leading up to the Let Loose event, a recent leak from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has revealed more details about what we can expect from Apple.
As stated by Gurman, the upcoming OLED iPad Pro is anticipated to be released in two sizes – 11 inches and 12.9 inches – and is rumored to feature Apple’s latest M4 chipset. Additionally, it is speculated that Apple will unveil a revamped Magic Keyboard with a more durable Aluminum construction, which, when used with the new iPad Pro, is expected to complement the sleek design of the MacBook.
Additionally, he mentions that Apple may incorporate certain software modifications to optimize the capabilities of the iPad’s robust hardware. The tech giant is also anticipated to unveil a new and improved Apple Pencil 3, featuring enhanced haptic feedback and squeeze gestures. It is speculated that the unveiling of the new iPad OS will take place at the annual WWDC event in June.
Despite enhancements to both the internal components and external design of the iPad Pro, Apple anticipates that it will rival the performance of the MacBook and provide users with a more compact and convenient computing option.

According to Gurman, the upcoming affordable iPad Air is likely to be available in two sizes, 11-inch and 12.9-inch, and will be equipped with the M2 chipset to handle processing tasks.
Despite not being as powerful as the AI-focused M4, the chipset in question is the same one used to power the iPad Pro 2022. This suggests that it should be able to handle most tasks without issue, with the exception of video editing or gaming. Even with this upgrade, the iPad Air 2024 will still serve as a budget-friendly alternative to the iPad Pro.
The company is anticipated to discontinue the ninth-gen iPad and introduce a more affordable 10.9-inch model. There is also a possibility of a minor update for the iPad Mini, which may include a new chip.
Apple’s iPad lineup has not received any updates since 2022, breaking from their usual annual update cycle. With the recent announcements, Apple aims to simplify their iPad lineup in order to prevent any confusion and, ultimately, increase sales.
