Recently, the upcoming chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen was leaked, and with the finale now live, two significant revelations became clear: Gojo did not return, and the series will not receive a second part, countering some earlier speculations. Although the last chapter concluded somewhat peacefully, fans remain dissatisfied for various reasons.
Upon a closer examination of the manga, several plot holes created by Gege Akutami are apparent. Additionally, certain storylines that had the potential to become engaging were ultimately abandoned. Some characters were also not given fair treatment. This article will delve into these shortcomings in detail.
The Yuuji-Sukuna Battle Was Rigged
Most of the fights during the Shinjuku Showdown were compelling… until Yuuji faced off against Sukuna solo. While Yuuji’s ability to utilize Sukuna’s techniques was somewhat justified—since Sukuna’s possession of Yuuji’s body imparted those techniques—it did not account for Yuuji’s sudden ability to use domain expansion.
Itadori’s domain merely displayed a few sceneries from Yuuji’s mind without any further details, such as its name or nature. The final confrontation of Sukuna and Yuuji within the domain concluded abruptly, suggesting that Gege might have implemented Yuuji’s domain expansion as a narrative shortcut.
Megumi and Nobara Weren’t Done Justice
Megumi is a fan favorite, and his enigmatic aura along with the “hidden potential”mentioned by Sukuna and Gojo captivated many fans. However, after the Culling Game arc, Megumi was overtaken, and his character saw no further development. He was one of the characters with monumental “potential”but never got to fully showcase it, and his complete domain was never revealed.
Similarly, Nobara completely vanished after the Shibuya Incident, lacking any character development and offering no explanation for her sudden return to life.
The Strongest Sorcerer Was Mistreated
After Gojo’s death at the beginning of the Shinjuku Showdown arc, fans hoped to see his return. Instead, viewers were presented with a zombie version of Yuuta in Gojo’s body. Just when fans accepted Gojo’s death, Gege hinted at a possible revival situation, but ultimately failed to acknowledge or mourn his loss.
In the end, Gojo was reduced to merely being the “strongest human,” with his humanity overlooked.
Other Plot Holes
Beyond these primary issues, several other plot holes were evident in the manga. Notably, after Kenjaku’s defeat, he mentioned to Yuuta that he had some kind of successor, but this thread was never followed up. Additionally, Kenjaku’s interactions with foreign officials yielded no results.
Sukuna’s backstory was also absent. Typically, a villain’s backstory is explored in most Shonen manga, yet in this case, it was particularly significant since Sukuna dominated nearly 90% of the Shinjuku Showdown arc.
Moreover, the concluding chapters appeared to focus more on minor characters from the Culling Game arc rather than giving the main characters their due importance.
When Will Chapter 271 Be Released?
Chapter 271 of Jujutsu Kaisen is set to release on September 29th. It can be accessed through official sources like MangaPlus (by Shueisha) and Shonen Jump.
