Anime villains with the White Curse are doomed for failure and the latest My Hero Academia chapter further proves it

In chapter 423 of My Hero Academia, the manga series provided additional evidence for the existence of the “White Curse”that plagues anime villains. It has been observed that whenever a villain achieves their ultimate form, their hair turns white and they are destined to fail. This aspect of the story development also feels rushed.

Despite fans having noticed this phenomenon with various villains years ago, they were unable to confirm it. Nevertheless, the most recent chapter of My Hero Academia’s manga has seemingly gained the approval of even its creator, Kohei Horikoshi, for the notorious “White Curse.”

Please note: This article includes spoilers from various Demon Slayer and My Hero Academia manga and represents the author’s personal viewpoint.

My Hero Academia Chapter 423 Explores the White Curse Phenomenon Among Anime Villains

In the past ten years, a trend has emerged in the world of anime known as the “White Curse.”This term was coined by anime enthusiast X @Noah_sky9, who noticed a recurring pattern in which even the most powerful villains ultimately meet their downfall after reaching their final form.

Despite not being a universal trait among all anime villains, the “White Curse”was commonly used to describe those whose hair turned white in their ultimate form and met a tragic fate. This label was coined by anime fans to refer to characters who faced a doomed ending after transforming into their final form with white hair.

Among the numerous anime characters who fell victim to White Curse’s hasty conclusion were Muzan Kibutsuji, Madara Uchiha, Zeref Dragneel, and Zamasu, all of whom are widely recognized and beloved by fans.

Despite Demon Slayer’s Muzan Kibutsuji seeming unbeatable after attaining his final form, fans will recall that Tanjiro Kamado and his allies were able to injure him, causing him to resort to his enlarged infant form. Ultimately, the demon slayers were able to defeat Muzan.

Despite initially gaining the upper hand against the Shinobi, Madara Uchiha, now the Jinchuriki of the Ten-Tails, was betrayed by Zetsu and gravely wounded. This allowed Kaguya Otsutsuki to take over the mission and Madara to attain his final form with white hair.

In regards to Zeref Dragneel, numerous fans of Fairy Tail also share the belief that his conclusion was hastily wrapped up. Despite obtaining the powerful Fairy Heart, he ultimately failed to utilize it. In a mere three chapters, Natsu was able to defeat Zeref, rendering the immense power useless as it could have potentially vanquished Acnologia.

Finally, it is important for fans to recall the hasty conclusion to Zamasu’s story in Dragon Ball Super following his fusion with his alternate self. This fusion resulted in two Zamasus with distinct hair colors – one white and one pink – and they seemed to have the upper hand. However, their downfall came when they merged into one being with white Super Saiyan hair. In the end, Zamasu was ultimately defeated by Future Trunks and subsequently erased by Zeno.

Similarly, the ending for Tomura Shigaraki in the My Hero Academia manga was rushed. Despite the fact that the anime villain had been alive for a significant amount of time, his conclusion was hastily resolved with the sudden reintroduction of All For One. It is possible that the villain could have had a proper showdown with Deku until the very end, but it was cut short by the interference of All For One.

By examining these instances, it becomes evident that the “White Curse”is indeed present among anime villains.
