When a new Fortnite update is released by Epic Games, players often encounter quests that can be either challenging or time-consuming. Unfortunately, recent changes to the game’s Quest UI have made completing these challenges more frustrating than ever, significantly impacting the player experience.
While the addition of popular character Hatsune Miku has captured the attention of many gamers, a significant portion of the Fortnite community, myself included, has expressed concern over the unnecessarily complicated user interface (UI) for the Quests screen. Previously, players could easily navigate the tab to quickly access their challenges. However, Epic has introduced a new system that categorizes quests by mode, requiring players to navigate through multiple drop-down menus to locate their objectives.
This layout change means that instead of immediately viewing available quests upon entering the UI, players must now spend valuable time sifting through various categories to find the relevant challenges. To worsen matters, some players have reported being completely unable to see their quests.
**Where are my Quests?**
Upon logging in after the update, I discovered that the number of steps required to access the desired quests had increased significantly, indicating poor UI design. This issue may be manageable in the lobby when players have extra time to browse through menus, but it becomes a major hindrance during matches when urgency is key. In fact, I spent so long searching for a challenge during one game that I was eliminated while still navigating the menus.
This experience led me to forgo checking my challenge progress altogether throughout matches, opting instead to review them only after a game concluded. While this may seem trivial, it can be incredibly off-putting for players who were accustomed to swiftly glancing at their objectives and returning to the action.
Fortnite players express frustration over quest accessibility
I am not alone in my struggles. A recent thread on Reddit showcased numerous players who were struggling to locate their Story Quests, with one user commenting that the update “broke the tab.” Some members of the community have resorted to utilizing third-party websites to keep track of their challenges, which further highlights the frustration surrounding this recent change.
This UI update has sparked widespread dissatisfaction among players, who have also voiced objections to modifications made to the Locker and the emote wheel. Players are growing increasingly vocal about the overall complexity introduced by these updates.
One Reddit user, fmxrcurry, articulated a sentiment shared by many in the community: “What is it with Epic burying everything in sub-menus? The locker, the shop, the passes? It just makes everything more complicated. Why? It’s hot garbage.”
As players continue to voice their concerns, we hope that Epic Games takes note of this feedback and considers reverting some of these frustrating changes in the near future.
