Despite the news of a sequel for Young Sheldon, fans are already speculating about the possibility of another alternate followup. However, their idea is not one that they are actually hoping for.
Although the Season 7 finale of Young Sheldon left many fans upset, it does not mark the end for the Cooper family. This autumn, viewers can look forward to following older brother Georgie as he navigates married life and parenthood in the spin-off series, Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage.
Despite the fact that the only confirmed sequel in production is set to begin filming in July, fans are speculating that a potential follow-up, Young Sheldon: The Caltech Years, could expand the Sheldonverse even more.

One fan commented on Reddit that it would be unnecessary to explore Sheldon’s growth between the end of YS and beginning of TBBT, as there doesn’t seem to be much of a story there. They added that any potential story would likely revolve around
A second person also shared their opinion, stating that they believed “Sheldon was the least interesting aspect of Young Sheldon by the end.”A third individual added, “In my opinion, it wouldn’t be very captivating. Seasons 6 and 7 of Young Sheldon already show Sheldon’s development into the character we see in the beginning of The Big Bang Theory, so there wouldn’t be much room for growth in the show.”
As Young Sheldon came to a close, the series effectively passed the storytelling torch to The Big Bang Theory. In its final moments, we see Sheldon officially beginning his journey at Caltech.
Despite Sheldon’s childhood being a potential starting point, there are additional factors that would prevent it from being a direct continuation. These include the passing of George and Mary’s increased reliance on her faith to cope with the loss.
Despite Jim Parsons ruling out the possibility of an “Older Sheldon”reboot, it does not necessarily mean that another iteration of the show will not exist. In fact, Parsons has expressed the idea of “never say never,”leaving the door open for the potential for a future reboot.
Fans have a distinct vision for the next Young Sheldon installment, and it does not involve the Coopers.
Another fan suggested that focusing on other TBBT characters, particularly Leonard, would be more beneficial than creating another Sheldon spinoff. This is because Sheldon already receives more screen time than any other character.
Currently, it is Georgie’s time to shine, and considering the sitcom will be recorded using multiple cameras, it may have more similarities to The Big Bang Theory than we initially thought.
