Apex Legends Character Experiences Substantial Drop in Pick Rate, Sparking Calls for Change

Caustic’s pick rate has significantly decreased in top-level play, causing frustration among Apex Legends players who are demanding a change.

Despite Respawn Entertainment’s alterations to the character roster in Apex Legends, there have been distinct variations in the meta between casual players and those who play at a more advanced level.

Among the top characters in Apex Legends, such as Pathfinder, Bloodhound, Lifeline, and Bangalore, there is some overlap. However, other characters have not received as much attention. Currently, Caustic, Ballistic, and Seer have the lowest pick rates among Masters and Apex Predators, each sitting at around 0.3%.

The decrease in Caustic’s popularity has been a source of frustration for players, especially since he has been consistently nerfed in recent updates. Redditor Zombz01 expressed their disappointment with Caustic’s low pick rate among high-level players, stating that this was what competitive players had been hoping for.

Another person concurred, stating that the professionals always seem to get their way, often resulting in poorly developed characters. They expressed sympathy for those who had purchased heirlooms, calling it a joke.

“He used to be such a strong character before he was nerfed,”one player lamented. “Even the professionals agree. Getting trapped in gas is a major inconvenience. But let’s not forget that running away as a Skirmisher can also be an inconvenience for the opponent. And being unexpectedly flanked is no walk in the park for them either,”another player chimed in.

Some people contended that the addition of visible health bars in Season 22, displayed above players’ heads, was the final blow for him.

One person expressed frustration with how the health bar affects Caustic’s abilities, noting that enemies can easily spot him or his health bar in the gas. Another person agreed, stating that it doesn’t make sense to have a health bar displayed in smoke, gas, or even when Mirage creates clones.

The impact of the health bar has been felt by Mirage as well, leading players to call for Respawn to reconsider their decisions. It is hoped that Caustic will also receive some much-needed attention.
