Apex Legends Devs Reverse Controversial Battle Pass Changes

Following backlash from Apex Legends players, Respawn Entertainment has decided to reverse their decision to remove the option to purchase the Battle Pass with Apex Coins.

The Apex Legends Battle Pass overhaul on July 8 not only removed the option to purchase Apex Coins, but also introduced a new format that replaced seasons with splits. Additionally, a Premium Battle Pass tier was added to the game.

The decision made by EA to add more transactions and take away the option for players to earn the Battle Pass without spending money was met with criticism from players, who slammed the company and accused them of being “money hungry.”

On July 24, Respawn Entertainment issued an apology and revealed a set of modifications to address the concerns raised by players.

During Season 22 Split 1, which commences on Aug. 6, players can obtain the Premium Battle Pass by completing easy challenges. In Split 2, starting on Sept. 17, players will have the option to purchase the Battle Pass for 950 Apex Coins, with the opportunity to earn sufficient coins in that Battle Pass for future passes.

Apex Legends professional player ImperialHal reacted positively to the modifications, and other members of the community expressed similar praise.

According to 100 Thieves Apex content creator NiceWigg, “We need to change and acknowledge our mistakes.”

Despite receiving positive feedback, there are still some concerns surrounding the Battle Pass changes. While the number of tiers has been reduced from 110 to 60, there are some players who believe that it may be more difficult to complete all tiers within a Split compared to having an entire season to complete 110 levels.

Although stricter timelines may cause players to feel more pressure to complete challenges quickly, it is now possible to obtain every Battle Pass by earning Apex Coins during each Split.
