Apex Legends Mid-Season 23 Patch Leaves Mirage “Beyond Broken”

In the wake of the mid-season 23 patch, many players in the Apex Legends community are declaring that Mirage is “beyond broken” . This arises from his enhanced ability to go invisible during healing, allowing him to stealthily approach enemies.

Season 23 debuted in November, introducing significant changes to the battlefield within the Apex Games. Despite these updates, player counts have declined as many have sought alternatives to the game. Respawn has implemented several hotfixes since the season commenced, alongside a major mid-season update.

Key Updates to Legends and Gameplay

This latest update included various changes to different Legends, notably a considerable nerf to Pathfinder that has not been well-received by the player base. In contrast, Mirage, a fan-favorite character, received enhancements with his Now You See Me ability, allowing him to become invisible while recovering health.

Concerns Over Mirage’s New Invisibility Ability

While the intention behind this adjustment was to boost his effectiveness and increase his pick rate, players have voiced concerns that the buff renders Mirage excessively powerful, particularly in certain ranks. As highlighted by content creator JHallBallero, players are finding themselves caught off guard as Mirage can heal undetected.

“If audio worked as intended, it wouldn’t feel as detrimental, but invisibility in a first-person shooter rarely sits well with players,” expressed one frustrated gamer. Another chimed in, “Mirage will be the only Legend to benefit from significant healing options due to this change. I anticipated issues but the reality is even worse.”

Furthermore, the effectiveness of Phoenix Kits has come under scrutiny, with players pointing out that their prolonged equip time exacerbates the problem. “You can truly bunny hop into oblivion while invisible and utilizing a Phoenix Kit, it’s absurd,” remarked one player. “I’m already frequently getting bamboozled during matches, and now I can’t even see him healing? This is too much,” added another.

While it is doubtful that Respawn will retract the recent buff in the immediate future, they may consider adjustments as they continue to monitor player feedback and game balance.
