Apex Legends Player Count Continues to Drop, Fans Express Concern

Despite its initial success, it appears that Apex Legends is losing players as it has fallen several spots on Steam’s list of most-played games.

Despite a few different reasons, Apex Legends’ player count has occasionally suffered in the last 12 months. Issues such as rampant cheating, underdeveloped legends, server issues, and other factors have frustrated players.

Despite the rebellion against Respawn Entertainment’s decision to add a Premium+ tier to the battle pass, they continued with their plans before the start of season 22. The new part of the battle pass could only be obtained with real-world money instead of Apex Coins, but this has now been reversed.

Despite facing another influx of cheaters, the battle royale has also suffered from a decrease in player count. These two issues have contributed to the game’s declining popularity.

“Redditor Kaateiku noted that the battle royale had fallen out of Steam’s top 10 most-played games on July 28, marking the lowest average player month since January of 202. This decline has not been seen since its release.”

“The player count for the game is decreasing,”one player remarked. “Wow, PUBG now has a higher playercount than Apex. It’s like we’re back in 2019,”another player observed. “Based on their recent actions, it seems like the game will unfortunately continue to lose players,”another commented.

Some players disputed the severity of the reported decline. One player pointed out, “You captured a screenshot during Apex’s usual daily low, but disregarded the peak times. It reached 220k earlier today and typically peaks around 07:00, while hitting its lowest point around 19:00.”

According to SteamCharts, the average player count for the battle royale game has reached its lowest point since Season 11. In just the last month, the average has decreased by approximately 30,000 players. However, it should be noted that this count only includes Steam players and does not take into account those playing on Xbox, PlayStation, or EA Origin.

Respawn has made a commitment to addressing the issue of cheating and has vowed to improve their communication regarding major changes, such as the battle pass overhaul. Perhaps this effort will help regain some of the lost players.
