Apex Legends Players Call for Major Adjustment to Mad Maggie’s Ultimate Ability

Fans of Apex Legends are urging Respawn developers to make adjustments to Mad Maggie’s ultimate ability due to its potential to harm nearby teammates with its stun effect.

In 2022, during the Season 12 update, Mad Maggie became a new addition to Apex, bringing her explosive abilities to the game as another Assault class character.

Ever since its introduction, her Wrecking Ball Ultimate has been gaining a lot of attention. This ability launches a detonating ball that not only damages but also stuns enemies.

Take Mad Maggie’s Ult for instance, which has experienced issues with broken footstep audio in the past. In addition, there have been other bugs that have greatly diminished its effectiveness, rendering it almost useless. Despite attempts to address these issues through bug fixes and some notable improvements, players are still calling for developers to continue refining the Ultimate.

After being hit with stun damage from a Wrecking Ball in a match, a Redditor known as Melodic-Appeal7390 raised the issue on Reddit. The issue was that the Mad Maggie who threw the ball was actually on their team, and the stun ultimately led to the Redditor’s character dying.

The gameplay clip posted by the user initiated a debate in the Apex Legends subreddit regarding the fairness of Mad Maggie’s Ult and its potential negative effects on squadmates.

A single individual defended the game by noting, “Ultimates have an impact on teammates, just like Gibraltar and Bangalore’s abilities.”

Supporters of Ultimates impacting teammates argue that squad members should be more vigilant of their surroundings.

Some argue that exceptions should be granted for characters such as Mad Maggie. After all, as seen in the video, the Wrecking Ball unexpectedly bounces out of a door and towards the player.

According to one user, the mechanic is flawed as it allows for telegraphing of Gibby and Bang Ults. In the video, the ball was thrown indoors and managed to bounce through a doorway. The only way to potentially avoid it would have been if their teammate had communicated with them.

A different individual mentioned that their friend is a dedicated Maggie player, but the ultimate ability almost discouraged them from playing together. They expressed frustration at constantly being slowed or stunned in fights, with the added disappointment that the ultimate ability rarely did enough damage to the enemy team to make up for the disadvantage of granting them faster movement.
