While players are guaranteed an heirloom after opening 500 packs or by participating in specific collection events, it is also possible, albeit unlikely, to find one in regular Apex Packs. The notion that heirlooms are difficult to obtain has long been acknowledged, but the actual probability has remained vague until now.
Previously, the store’s odds were obscured, simply noted as “less than 1%” with no further details on just how low that percentage truly is.

As confirmed by the official Apex Legends X account, the probability of receiving an heirloom from a pack is just 0.045%. This not only falls below 1%, but is also a minuscule fraction of a percent.
“With the introduction of new regulations in Korea that necessitate detailed drop rate disclosures, we aim to maintain transparency and consistency in our communications, sharing this information globally with our player base,” they stated, explaining their decision to release these figures years post-launch of Apex Legends.
Furthermore, despite the guarantee of getting an heirloom resetting the 500-pack count, players can still expect to invest hundreds of dollars or spend thousands of hours grinding, unless they happen to strike it lucky.
For context, your chances of being struck by lightning are roughly 0.0065%, or about 1 in 15,300, according to the National Weather Service. This means you are approximately seven times more likely to find an heirloom in your very first pack than to experience a lightning strike in your lifetime.
