Apple’s Not Given Up On VR and AR Yet, Analyst Claims

Despite the initial poor reception of the original Vision Pro, Apple is currently developing its successor, as well as a more affordable version called the Apple Vision Pro headset.

According to Apple analyst Mark Gurman, the lackluster performance of the first-generation Vision Pro headset has not affected Apple’s confidence.

According to Gurman, the main factor contributing to the low sales of the Vision Pro was its expensive price of $3499. However, he indicated that the company is currently developing a more affordable version called Apple Vision, which is expected to be released as early as next year.

In his hopes, he envisions the Apple Vision being significantly more affordable than the Vision Pro, and has indicated that a more expensive headset will not be considered.

“According to Gurman in an interview with 9To5Mac, these devices have yet to gain popularity among consumers and it is uncertain when that will change. However, if the cheaper model is priced above $1,500, it is likely that the Vision devices will continue to be considered niche products.”

Additionally, reports suggest that the company is developing a Ray Ban-like version of Meta’s smart glasses, which will be more budget-friendly compared to the Vision Pro model. These smart glasses will not feature a built-in display and are expected to rely on an iPhone or MacBook for power while connected.

We have previously heard about compact smart wearables from Apple. In February, Gurman wrote about the Apple glasses, stating that the company had considered creating true augmented reality glasses but encountered technical challenges.

Despite being in development, the release date of the “Apple Glass”has not been announced. Additionally, the integration of Apple’s advanced AI-powered Siri technology will create a complete ecosystem for their multi-modal smart glasses.
