The excitement surrounding the highly anticipated musical sequel Wicked: For Good continues to build, especially with recent confirmations from Ariana Grande. She will be introducing a new original song for her character, Glinda, further elevating the film’s promise and attraction.
With the renowned stage soundtrack firmly embedded in popular culture, the film is expected to soar at the box office when it debuts in late 2024.
But the musical experience doesn’t stop there; the sequel includes significant musical highlights as well. Both the iconic tunes “No Good Deed”and “For Good”will feature prominently, alongside several original numbers that are set to expand the emotional landscape of the story.
Among these original pieces is a song performed by Glinda, which is said to be crucial for her character development throughout the film.
Glinda’s New Song: A Defining Moment in Her Journey
According to Grande, this new addition is a “pivotal moment” in Glinda’s storyline. In an interview with Variety, she stated: “It shows a side of her we’ve never seen before. In the stage show, this transformation happens offstage.”
She elaborated, “In the movie, we get to see her make the decision that defines who she is. It’s a privilege to sing this song and be the first Glinda to bring it to life.”
Grande also expressed her desire for this new song to eventually be included in live performances of the stage adaptation, saying, “Wouldn’t that be lovely?”
In an exciting twist, Glinda isn’t the only character receiving a new song in Wicked: For Good. Cynthia Erivo, who portrays Elphaba, has also confirmed her character will debut an original song, which she co-wrote.
“I collaborated on one of the new songs, and it’s so special to me,” Erivo shared. “When we filmed it, the entire crew was in tears. I hope audiences are ready — it’s a song that speaks to the heart of who Elphaba is.”
The eagerly awaited Wicked: For Good is scheduled for release on November 21, 2025.
