Thankfully, they successfully rescued the Haulia tribe from the oppressive Empire, with Hajime pledging to support them in their struggle without direct involvement.
Despite a historically poor reputation for animation, this third season is impressively well-executed across all areas. The storyline flows seamlessly, suggesting that the studio, asread, may have benefitted from managing this installment independently rather than collaborating with others, which may have contributed to the previous series’ inconsistencies.

Arifureta season 3 episode 2: A comical covert operation leads to the Haulia’s liberation
In Arifureta season 3 episode 2, titled “The Roar of Revolution,”the tale opens with Hajime and his teammates breaching the gates of the Hoelscher Empire. They are immediately struck by the harsh treatment inflicted on the Haulia tribe, particularly the despicable fate of the tribe’s children who are subjected to slavery. Although the Hero sought to intervene, Hajime aimed to avoid drawing attention to their group.
As they inquired about Shea’s father and other members of the Haulia tribe, they discovered that all had been imprisoned in the castle.
During their preparations to infiltrate the palace, Hajime and Yue sought to steal a moment together, leading to a humorous misunderstanding within the group. Hajime’s intention was merely to offer Yue some of his blood, as she is a vampire.
Eventually, they devised a scheme to penetrate the palace and liberate the imprisoned Haulia tribe members, yet the challenge remained on how to gain entry. Hajime fashioned masks, reminiscent of those from the popular series Power Rangers, encouraging the group to don these disguises.
Initially reluctant, the Hero’s party eventually sported the quirky masks, successfully distracting the guards while Hajime’s team infiltrated the prison. Upon freeing the Haulia, they searched for Shea’s father, who was enduring torture in another room. Despite the circumstances, he attempted to project strength to deter the guards from attacking him.
After observing his father’s futile bravado for some time, Hajime stepped in, dispatching the soldiers and facilitating their escape from the palace with the Haulia tribe in tow. The liberated tribe expressed their desire to confront the Empire, which had treated them as mere playthings.
Shea expressed her concerns about the tribe’s reckless plan, fearing it could lead to their demise. Hajime, however, remained out of the impending conflict to avoid attracting attention. To encourage Shea, he boosted the Haulia’s spirit, urging them to pursue vengeance against the Emperor without hesitation.
Arifureta season 3 episode 2: Studio asread showcases potential with seamless production
Consistent animation quality and storytelling marked Arifureta season 3 episode 2, mirroring the strengths seen in its premier episode. The underlying reasons for this success indicate that Studio asread may have thrived by tackling this season independently.
While anime productions often comprise staff from multiple studios, the official credit for production rests with the studio listed. Some shows, like Arifureta, previously partnered with other studios. The first season involved a collaboration with Studio White Fox, and the second with Studio Mother. These past partnerships resulted in varying animation quality and unsatisfactory story pacing, contrasting sharply with the coherence found in season 3, hinting that asread should consider producing more projects solo.
Final insights
Studio asread appears poised to emerge as an unexpected standout in the Fall 2024 Anime Season, as Arifureta season 3 episode 2 has shown minimal flaws to date.
