The viral success of tribute band ‘Mac Sabbath’, known for their unique combination of McDonald’s costumes and Black Sabbath covers, left music fans in shock.
Mac Sabbath is not your typical Black Sabbath tribute band – they are a group of “mutants”who don McDonald’s-inspired attire for their live shows.
The band’s Instagram account characterizes the group as a “deranged clown and his team of Monsanto mutants on a mission to rescue you from the current state of food and music.”
Despite being based in Los Angeles, California, Mac Sabbath still exudes a sense of being from “the bowels of outer space.”
Mac Sabbath has been performing together for 10 years.
At their performances, the bandmates are often spotted wearing costumes that resemble a human hamburger, Ronald McDonald, Grimace, and the Hamburglar.
Even so, they have given themselves distinctive names. The frontman goes by Ronald Osbourne, in tribute to Ozzy Osbourne, who was the frontman of Black Sabbath. The guitarist is known as Slayer MacCheeze, the bassist as Grimalice, and the drummer as Catburglar.
Despite having a decent following, the band recently went viral on X, leaving social media users in disbelief at the surreal and dream-like nature of their group.

“According to an X user, this could possibly be the most incredible sight they have ever witnessed in their weary existence.”
Others playfully suggested that during their performance, Mac Sabbath might mimic Ozzy’s famous bat-biting incident from Black Sabbath’s 1982 concert by taking a bite out of a McDonald’s hamburger or McNuggets.
“One person’s complaint about the parody was that the actors did not take a big bite out of a burger at the end. They questioned how the parody could adequately parody Ozzy with hamburgers without including that scene.”
“Another person wrote that they had heard the singer bite the head off of a chicken McNugget.”
Currently, Mac Sabbath is embarking on their “Pop-Up Drive-Thru” tour, making stops in 40 cities throughout America. As they journey, the band will also be commemorating their 10th anniversary.
