The new docu-series has received a significant response. The main focus of Ashley Madison: Sex, Lies & Scandal revolves around the 2015 data breach, which resulted in the exposure of millions of users’ personal information on the dark web.
However, instead of focusing on the illegal hack, numerous viewers have expressed their frustration towards individuals involved in extramarital affairs and the app that facilitates them.
According to Paul Keable, CSO of Ashley Madison’s parent company Ruby, individuals are often too hasty in their judgments. He shares his belief that the biggest misconception about infidelity is that many of those who use the app are still deeply in love with their significant other.
The majority of individuals in this group are typically in their 30s and 40s, and have been in committed relationships for a significant amount of time. Many of them are also living together with children. Their relationships go beyond just dating and involve a deeper level of commitment.
Regardless of their marital status, individuals in this group are hesitant to give up their current situation. This is often misunderstood by others. The truth is, most of our members have a strong love for their significant others and do not wish to cause them any pain.
“This is the reason why our site has achieved such success – we provide a platform for individuals to privately and discreetly explore their desires and engage in undiscovered affairs.”
However, there may still be individuals who remain unsatisfied with this response, particularly those who have experienced the pain of being betrayed by a cheating partner.
After the release of Ashley Madison: Sex, Lies & Scandal, several viewers have come forward to share their past experiences with infidelity and criticize Ashley Madison for enabling it.
Keable was questioned about what he would tell these individuals, to which he responded, “If you believe that our company shutting down tomorrow would put an end to infidelity, let me assure you that it wouldn’t. We are just a small part of a larger movement. If individuals are actively seeking this type of service, it is a sign that there is something lacking in their lives.”
He emphasized that there are numerous reasons why individuals cheat, stating, “There is not just one single path that leads to cheating.”
“I am aware of the pain that comes with discovering a partner’s infidelity. However, our purpose is to assist individuals in engaging in such behavior without being detected, allowing them to satisfy their desires without consequence.”
According to Keable, there are instances where partners who stray may simply desire to engage in conversation with someone outside of their marriage, and this could be enough to fulfill their needs.
According to him, even though it may only be an online conversation, it satisfies their need and enables them to return and be the desired and wanted partner. He often mentions that he believes they likely save more marriages than they end.
