Asmongold Bids Farewell to Once Human Due to “Stupid” Seasonal Resets but Accepts Sponsorship for Season 2

Asmongold has returned to playing Once Human, having previously quit over the game’s seasonal resets, which he deemed “stupid.” This comeback for Season 2 was prompted by a sponsorship from the game’s developers.

In July, Asmongold criticized the seasonal reset system in a video, labeling it “tedious bullsh*t.” Each season lasts about six weeks, featuring new content and missions, but players are reset to level 1 at the conclusion of each season.

Upon discovering this mechanic, Asmongold did not hesitate to voice his frustration. After six months of beta testing, he was skeptical that developers could produce a new game scenario in just six weeks. “I’m just gonna move on and do something else,” he proclaimed. His departure resonated within the gaming community, but fate had different plans.

Now, Asmongold is back in action, thanks to a sponsorship deal with Summit1g, the developers of Once Human. He released a video showcasing a one-and-a-half-hour gameplay session of Once Human Season 2.

Surprisingly, he seemed to enjoy his experience, at least for the most part. “I was gonna do the Once Human thing,” he mentioned, “They have a new event, and they sponsored me to play it.”

However, it wasn’t entirely positive. Asmongold voiced disappointment regarding the lack of player engagement in the game. “I just want to see one other player,” he lamented, emphasizing that social interaction is vital to his gaming experience.

Despite his earlier reservations, Asmongold acknowledged the game’s considerable player base. “Honestly, it’s retained a really big player base,” he observed.

Once Human has consistently held a position in Steam’s top 10 most-played games since its launch, but it has recently fallen below the 100,000 concurrent players mark.

Summit1g’s bold decision to sponsor Asmongold was not without its risks. They were likely aware of his sharp criticisms regarding the six-week reset mechanic. Nevertheless, they invited him back in hopes of winning over hesitant players.
