Excitement is palpable as the Path of Exile 2 beta has officially launched, captivating both seasoned Diablo fans and dedicated PoE players alike. Among those engaged in exploring the game is the well-known Twitch streamer, Asmongold, who has already voiced preferences for future improvements.
Currently, Path of Exile 2 is making waves, having quickly risen to become one of the most-played titles on Steam. Recently, it achieved a remarkable feat, hitting an all-time high of 532,058 concurrent players who dived into the game’s immersive dungeon-crawling experience. Although it is still early in the game’s timeline, Asmongold is keen to share his feedback on features he would like to see refined in upcoming updates.
Asmongold Highlights Key Issues in Path of Exile 2
One of Asmongold’s primary concerns pertains to the difficulty level of the early-game stages, particularly the Act 1 bosses, which he describes as excessively punishing. He states, “I think that Act 1 bosses are too punishing. I understand that people want the difficulty of the game to be very high, but this is the first act in the game and you have people that are brand new to the game.”This sentiment resonates with many players, as they navigate challenging gameplay without previous experience.
He further argues, “It’s not necessary for the third boss to kill you in three hits. It’s not like that in Dark Souls and it’s not like that in Elden Ring.” His perspective adds to the ongoing debate regarding the game’s difficulty, advocating for a more approachable experience for newcomers.
To enhance player engagement and gradual progression, Asmongold suggests incorporating more secondary quests that yield better loot, which would help strengthen players without altering the fundamental challenge posed by bosses. He believes this approach would better balance the game, allowing players to feel more capable and rewarded in the early stages.

Additionally, Asmongold shared his thoughts on melee-oriented classes, like the Warrior. He expressed dissatisfaction with the melee gameplay experience, stating, “Melee feels bad to play.”While he acknowledges that melee can deal damage effectively, he personally finds it less enjoyable compared to ranged classes. During his earlier streaming sessions, Asmongold transitioned from Warrior to Witch within just three hours, expressing his frustration with melee players being vulnerable to enemy crowding.
Although the preliminary patch notes for PoE 2, set for December 10, include adjustments to dodge mechanics and enemy interactions, Asmongold’s critiques underline a broader community concern—that melee combat currently lacks the impact and satisfaction found in ranged options.
It remains to be seen if the development team will take action on these pointed observations, yet the latest update has already addressed numerous player concerns. For detailed insights into the changes made, you can find more information in our comprehensive early patch notes article.
