The Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for Elden Ring has gained a reputation for its extreme difficulty, even surpassing the already high standards set by FromSoftware. Asmongold, a popular streamer, has already given up on trying to complete it.
During his stream on June 22, when questioned about whether he was finished with the game, the Twitch and YouTube content creator responded, “I may play for one more day, but I’m not sure. I believe I’m mostly finished.”
Elaborating on his decision, Asmongold stated, “I believe the DLC is overly challenging to the point where it’s not enjoyable. Being constantly stunned by every attack combination and then being locked into an animation before being instantly killed…I am capable of defeating it, but I simply have no desire to do so.”
It comes as no surprise that the streamer’s comments have sparked backlash from users on Reddit. One response pointedly asks, “Wasn’t Elden Ring his comfort game just last week?”while another questions, “Did he once again stick to his usual strategy and refuse to adapt?”
“One response called attention to the hypocrisy shown by stating, “This is the very same individual who mocked game reviewers for their lack of skill and whined about the Elden Ring DLC being too challenging. How ironic.”
Some have proposed that Asmongold has shifted towards reaction-style content because “He is aware that his days of excelling in games are in the past.”
A good night’s sleep can often have a significant impact in FromSoftware games, much like in other cases.
It wouldn’t be unexpected if Asmongold ultimately chooses to continue his quest in the Shadow Realm and conquer all of its resident bosses.
