Ubisoft has several Assassin’s Creed games in development. Currently, four major games are known, including a AAA mobile game. While Assassin’s Creed Mirage marked a return to the franchise’s origins, it will resume its new RPG direction with Assassin’s Creed Codename Red later this year.
Other confirmed projects include Codename Hexe, set during the witch trials in the Holy Roman Empire. An Assassin’s Creed multiplayer game, Project Invictus, is also confirmed, with a few more supposedly in the works.
But according to several rumors, Ubisoft is considering remaking the famous pirate game, Black Flag.

Is an Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag remake in development?
As of now, Ubisoft has not made any official announcement regarding the Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag remake. However, according to several reports and leaks, the remake is well in development.
In June 2023, Kotaku was the first media outlet to report that a remake of the 2013 game was in the works at Ubisoft.
Another report from Insider Gaming, dated January 30, 2024, revealed more details about this potential remake. According to Insider Gaming, the remake is known internally as Project Obsidian, and development has already begun internally. It’s being described as a full remake rather than a simple remaster and is reportedly still a few years away.
While the publisher is banking heavily on the Assassin’s Creed franchise, a remake of one of their most beloved games doesn’t seem like such a far-fetched idea.
