Ubisoft revealed Assassin’s Creed Codename Red at their Ubisoft Forward 2022 event, accompanied by a teaser trailer that finally confirmed the highly anticipated setting of Feudal Japan.
The publisher has remained tight-lipped about the game since then, with little information being released in the nearly two years. As a result, most of the knowledge about Codename Red has been based on unconfirmed leaks and speculations. However, this will soon change in the upcoming future.
Ubisoft has officially announced the title of the project as Assassin’s Creed Shadows and has also revealed a date for the world premiere trailer of the cinematic world. Here’s all the information we have about AC Shadows, including the upcoming reveal.

What Platforms Will AC Shadows Launch On?
The title will be released on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S platforms, as shown by the game’s ‘Add to Wishlist’ page on the Ubisoft Store and confirmed by journalist Andrew Marmo through listing data.
The mention of a PS4 WeU in the listing data may be a mistake, as suggested by a comment made by insider Shinobi602. More definitive information regarding this matter is expected to be included in the upcoming debut trailer.
AC Shadows Release Date
According to Ubisoft’s fiscal year 2024 earnings report, the upcoming Assassin’s Creed game set in Feudal Japan is scheduled to release sometime between April 2024 and March 2025.
However, certain versions of the YouTube link for the Shadows reveal showed a due date of November 15, 2024. A screenshot of this date was captured by Twitter user maltheoslfc before it was taken down from the YouTube page.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Setting
It has been officially stated that AC Shadows is set in Japan’s feudal era, which lasted for several centuries. As of now, Ubisoft has not announced a specific time period for their upcoming game.
Despite the specific details of the setting, leaks from late 2023 revealed that the upcoming game, Codename Red, would feature a female protagonist. In October, Assassin’s Creed writer Pierre Boudreau updated his LinkedIn header photo to showcase a female assassin in Feudal Japan, with a distinct logo visible in the background.
Immediately, Boudreau took down the imagery from his profile. It is worth mentioning that the same logo can now be seen on AC Shadows’ official Ubisoft Store page.
The release of Assassin’s Creed’s cinematic trailer on May 15 should provide answers to any remaining questions about the series’ upcoming journey through history.
