Steps to Pet the Dog
Upon reaching the designated waypoint, players must explore the vicinity to locate the dog. Although the search may not seem straightforward, utilizing your map can help pinpoint the right area.
To successfully find the dog, activate your Focus mode, which will highlight nearby markers. On a controller, pressing LT/L2 or doing a right-click on mouse and keyboard will engage Focus mode. Look for the glowing blue dot on your HUD. Following the blue indicator will lead you to the dog, located near a grave atop the hill.
Following the Dog
After establishing contact with the dog, it will guide you toward its destination. During this journey, be prepared to encounter three adversarial characters intent on capturing or harming the dog. Address this threat and continue on the path following the dog to a nearby farmhouse.
Making a Dialogue Choice
Upon reaching the farmhouse, you’ll meet a woman who claims to be the dog’s owner’s sister. The twist is that the dog holds the secret to a key and a box that contains the farmhouse deed. Conflicting stories suggest that the owner met an untimely demise, allegedly at her hands, while she seeks to capture the dog. Here, players face a dialogue choice: you can either demand justice for the dog or intimidate her into backing off.
Choosing to confront her will result in a fight, necessitating the defeat of her and several accomplices. Alternatively, a more cautious approach—threatening her—will cause her to flee without further conflict. Ultimately, this choice does not significantly alter the quest’s outcome.
Locating the Key
Following your encounter with the woman, your next objective is to search for the key to the lockbox around the farmhouse. The dog will assist by trying to point you in the right direction. By utilizing Focus mode, you can detect the key’s location, but direct entry through the house isn’t possible. Instead, navigate to the back of the farmhouse, where you’ll find a small opening. To enter, go prone by holding the X/Square button on your controller or C if using mouse and keyboard.
Retrieve the key found beneath the house and follow the dog back to its owner’s grave. Here, you can unlock the box to discover the owner’s will. Upon completion, the dog, Tsuki-Maru, will officially join you as a pet in your Hideout.
