Upcoming Astro Bot DLC

First off, it’s important to note that future Astro Bot content will be provided free of charge. As stated in an interview with Quest Daily, Game Director Nicolas Doucet confirmed that the upcoming DLC will be “going to be free.”

As for the timeline, the initial wave of content is expected to launch at some point in Fall 2024, though an exact date has yet to be announced.

Let’s delve into some of the exciting details.

Speedrun Mode Returns

The beloved speedrun mode is making a comeback in Astro Bot as part of the upcoming DLC features. This was initially confirmed during the Quest Daily interview, where Doucet expressed enthusiasm for the return of this feature.

“It’s not going to be a huge amount, but it will be focusing on one of the features people enjoyed in Astro’s Playroom – that was the speedruns,” he stated.

“There were some speedruns, and the levels were quite short, but it allowed you to replay and shave off your completion times.”

Fans can look forward to five confirmed speedrun courses at launch, with the possibility of additional levels introduced in the future. Each course is expected to include its own leaderboards, just like in Astro’s Playroom.

VIP Bots on the Horizon

In addition to the speedrun mode, Doucet hinted at more Bots to rescue once the DLC is released. While the exact locations of these VIP Bots remain a mystery, we can confirm there will be a total of 10 new Bots.

We also learned that these VIP Bots will feature iconic characters that were “not included yet.”

Bots based on Stellar Blade and Helldivers 2 have already been unveiled in the DLC trailer.

Additionally, observant fans have spotted potential clues in the game’s credits. Notably, Ubisoft was acknowledged for their contributions, hinting at possible inclusions from franchises like Assassin’s Creed, Beyond Good & Evil, and Rayman. As of now, no Bots from these series exist in the game, opening up the possibility for them to appear as VIPs in the upcoming DLC.

Other recent releases mentioned include Rise of the Ronin, with classic games like Croc and Worms also being referenced.
