Attack on Titan Movie: First Trailer, Plot Details, and Everything Else We Know

The Rumbling is not yet finished, as Attack on Titan: The Last Attack will be released in theaters, and we have all the details.

To celebrate the one-year anniversary of the conclusion of Attack on Titan, an exceptional anime from the 2010s, we will be treated to a full theatrical release. Eren, Levi, and the Survey Corps will grace the big screen for the grand finale that their journey has always deserved.

Unfortunately, for those expecting a new chapter, The Last Attack is not it. In the same vein as Demon Slayer, this movie is a collection of the last episodes in the epic battle between the titans and mankind.

Despite this, there is still something for everyone in the feature. Here is everything you need to know about what is to come.

When is the Attack on Titan movie out?

The highly anticipated film, Attack on Titan: The Last Attack, will be released in Japan on November 8, 2024. While the overseas release dates have not yet been confirmed, it is anticipated that the film will be available in early 2025.

Anime films typically reach American, European, and British theaters weeks after their release in Japan. This time difference allows for adequate subtitling and dubbing before both versions are released in theaters, giving audiences the option to choose whichever version they prefer.

In August 2024, the announcement of the first teaser for Attack on Titan: The Last Attack was accompanied by its release. This brief clip depicts the Survey Corps engaged in a fierce battle against Eren’s titans, in a desperate attempt to avert total destruction.

The magnitude of Attack on Titan Season 4 was consistently remarkable, with MAPPA putting in their all to depict the destruction and conflict. These moments are sure to be visually stunning and enhanced on the large screen with touch-ups and re-edits for maximum impact.

The Last Attack, the final installment of Attack on Titan, follows the Survey Corps as they confront Eren after the activation of the Rumbling. With the Wall Titans unleashed, their mission becomes a race against time to save the world from total destruction. Mikasa, Levi, and Armin lead the charge in this apocalyptic battle against the once righteous Eren, now consumed by a genocidal desire.

This coda, which is a recut version of the last four episodes of Attack on Titan Season 4, was released one year after its original premiere. It stays true to storyboard artist and The Last Attack director Yuichiro Hayashi’s initial vision.

“According to him, the original storyboard was created with the intention of being viewed as a complete film. Thus, being able to have a theatrical screening for everyone to experience it in the optimal setting is a realization of his dream.”

“We are actively updating the visuals to enhance your experience. We invite you to witness the Rumbling in the theater!”

This is the end… for now

The Last Attack of Attack on Titan serves as a powerful conclusion to the epic story, as it revisits the ending on the grandest stage. With both the manga and anime completed, a theatrical adaptation was the ultimate milestone for the franchise.

Despite previous attempts at Attack on Titan films, they were unsuccessful live-action adaptations that did not receive positive reception or the opportunity to gain global recognition. This upcoming theatrical release will mark the show’s debut on the big screen, a possibility that could have been pursued earlier if MAPPA had chosen to go in that direction.

For the foreseeable future, do not anticipate anything else aside from sporadic licensed releases such as a clothing line or video game. Attack on Titan had a strong run for a decade, but now it is time to put the franchise to rest – just like Eren himself.

That’s all the information we currently have on The Last Attack.
