Attack on Titan studio remaking an underrated 90s anime

WIT, the popular studio behind Attack on Titan, has released the first trailer for their remake of an underrated ’90s anime.

WIT Studio, known for producing the first three seasons of Attack on Titan, is currently in the process of creating a remake of the One Piece anime, which will cover the initial saga of the manga. Despite this project, the studio shows no signs of slowing down on their anime reboots and has recently revealed plans for another one.

Gosho Aoyama’s popular creation Detective Conan was serialized from 1988 to 1993 as a Shonen manga, while its anime adaptation aired from 1993 to 1994. Aoyama is also known for his work on Yaiba.

Yaiba follows the story of Yaiba Kurogane, a young boy with dreams of becoming a samurai. He trains diligently alongside his father, but his true challenges begin when he arrives in Japan and must adapt to a new, more civilized way of life. Throughout his journey, he faces numerous perilous adventures that test and strengthen him.

The anime remake at WIT Studio will be directed by Takahiro Hasui, who also directed Mob Psycho III. Toko Machida, known for their work on Kemono Michi: Rise Up, will be in charge of series composition. Yoshimichi Kameda, the character designer and chief animation director for Mob Psycho 100, will also be involved. The music will be composed by Yutaka Yamada (known for VINLAND SAGA) and Yoshiaki Dewa (known for Hell’s Paradise).

“As a fan, I’m excited for this one. Having loved the 1993 anime, I am curious to see how they adapt Kenyū Densetsu Yaiba,”comments one fan.

Another person exclaims, “Wow, it seems like every anime I used to watch as a child is getting a remake! Thank you, anime gods.”

“One more person who watched the YAIBA teaser PV was struck by the fact that the animation remained faithful to its original style, particularly Aoyama-sensei’s character designs from the past (tears). They are eagerly anticipating seeing Okita-kun depicted with those same drawings.”
