Despite the conclusion of both the television series and manga of Attack on Titan, fans of the popular anime franchise can still expect some unexpected twists. The Scout Regiment is making a comeback in a new feature-length film, Attack on Titan: The Last Attack, which has been recently announced for a theatrical release. While the journey of the Survey Corps has come to an end, followers of Eren Jaeger, Mikasa, Armin, and the rest of the Paradis Island residents can anticipate more exciting developments.

The Last Attack, a film based on the popular series Attack on Titan, is set to debut in Japanese theaters on November 8th of this year. While some may be hoping for new material or a continuation of the intense story by Hajime Isayama, the movie is being promoted as a “compilation.”With a runtime of 145 minutes, just shy of two and a half hours, the film will delve into the major events of the battle against Eren Jaeger, as depicted in the final episodes of the anime’s fourth season.

Despite not showcasing any new footage or serving as a direct sequel to the original ending, MAPPA studio has assured fans that the scenes from the television series have been revamped to seamlessly fit into the movie. While there is currently no confirmation on whether The Last Attack will be released in North America, with the increasing popularity of anime in the Western market, it is likely that the film will eventually make its way to U.S. theaters.

Overview of the Movie

“The Final Chapters of Attack on Titan Final Season will be combined into a single cohesive film, according to series director Yuichiro Hayashi. Hayashi, who also directed the original episodes, revealed this information.”

I originally drew the storyboards with the idea that it would be watched as a single movie. So, having the opportunity to have everyone watch it in the best possible environment, the theater, is a dream come true for me.

He shared his enthusiasm for the opportunity for viewers to witness it on the big screen in theaters, with upgraded visuals and audio. The movie will showcase a revamped 5.1 surround sound and a fresh theme song, “To You 2,000… or… 20,000 Years From Now…”which perfectly captures the grandiose storytelling of the saga.

Hajime Isayama is the author and illustrator of the Japanese manga series, Attack on Titan. It is published by Kodansha in the Bessatsu Shonen Magazine.

The manga was first published on September 9th, 2009, and concluded on April 9, 2021. It has been collected into 34 volumes.

Eren Yeager, a young boy, shares the belief that living a confined life is comparable to that of livestock and dreams of breaking free from the walls, mirroring the brave actions of his idols in the Survey Corps. The sudden appearance of a dangerous Titan brings about utter chaos.
