Attack on Titan: Upcoming Movie Announcement

To celebrate the release of The Final Chapters on home media, Attack on Titan will be coming to theatres. However, at the moment, this is only available for those residing in Japan.

Despite having been completed nearly a year ago, the impact of Attack on Titan’s ending continues to resonate with us. As one of the top anime of the 2010s, Eren Yaeger’s battle against the malevolent Titans captivated us for years, culminating in a poignant finale (albeit slightly prolonged).

Ever since the Blu-ray release of Part 4 of Season 4, titled Attack on Titan: The Final Chapters, a new movie has been announced for theatrical release. The movie, titled The Last Attack, will be a compilation film.

On Friday, November 8, 2024, Attack on Titan: The Last Attack will be released, coinciding with the one-year anniversary of its television debut. Unfortunately, at the moment, it will only be available in Japanese theaters.

The trailer, which accompanied the announcement, showcases some of the breathtaking scenes from the final episodes, including intense battles against fire and titans that push the members of the Survey Corps to their limits.

The Last Attack, with a runtime of approximately two-and-a-half hours, offers a satisfying cinema experience for both evening and afternoon outings. This comes during a time when anime is dominating the box office, with Haikyuu!! The Dumpster Battle and Gundam Seed Freedom ranking as top-grossing films in Japan for the year.

Besides those, wide releases were also given to Blue Lock: The Movie – Episode Nagi and Demon Slayer: To The Hashira Training. The latter was also a compilation film, as Demon Slayer has been releasing them since its second season.

It is evident that MAPPA recognizes the continued interest in Attack on Titan and has chosen to double down on the grand finale. Given the franchise’s widespread popularity, it is likely that we will see a global release at some point, but it remains to be confirmed.

Take a look at our list of upcoming anime to stay informed about other releases, and we also have guides for Dandadan, Dragon Ball Daima, and Solo Leveling Season 2, which are franchises that we know will be released outside of Japan.
