Avatar: The Last Airbender has broken everything since its arrival on Netflix. The adaptation of the famous cartoon took first place among the series upon its launch, blowing a wind of nostalgia on the streaming platform. Old fans were relieved to find an adaptation worthy of the name, while new ones were able to discover a thrilling adventure in a rich universe.
Adaptation requires, the Netflix series presented changes, sometimes enormous, to fit into the boxes imposed by its eight 50-minute episodes. And some characters had their backstories changed slightly, like Jet in Omashu.
The actors want to see Toph at all costs in the event of a sequel to the Avatar series on Netflix
Toph is an Earthbender far surpassing most of her peers, despite her young age. His absence in the live-action series is, however, justified: Netflix adapted Book 1, that of Water, and the character only appears in Book 2, that of Earth.
The teenager deviates from the norm in many respects. Blind, she does very well at finding her way thanks to her mastery of the Earth, which far exceeds that of the other masters. It is also she who will be responsible for teaching the element to Aang, in his quest to become the Avatar.
If Toph appears, it won’t be until a season 2 of Avatar: The Last Airbender. A season 2 which has however not yet been confirmed by Netflix at this stage.
