Astarion, the much-loved vampire spawn in Baldur’s Gate 3, has received new reactions from Patch 7 to players who cheat on him, and he definitely won’t take it lightly.
Larian Studios’ Patch 7 for its D&D RPG introduced a variety of new features, including additional evil endings, camp interactions, and even mod support.
Now that players have access to this latest update, discussions have emerged around the secrets Larian Studios kept under wraps until the release. One notable change is Astarion’s visceral reactions towards players who dare to betray him.
One fan’s Reddit post highlighted how Astarion despises cheaters in Patch 7 and included a video where he reacts harshly after discovering a player cheating on him with Mizora, Wyll’s devilish patron.

After a fun night with Mizora, the Tav in the video expressed regret just before Astarion walked in on them.
Instead of showing anger, Astarion expressed deep disappointment, which felt even harsher. Although Tav conveyed their regrets and intentions to stay with Astarion, the vampire spawn responded with hurtful remarks.
“I really thought there was more to you. That you were better than other people. More fool me, I suppose,” he said with contempt. He continued to question how he could ever trust his lover again.
A single Persuasion check can potentially alter the course of their relationship. If the player is successful, Astarion may be swayed to mend the relationship rather than sever it.
However, if the player fails the Persuasion check, Astarion criticizes Tav even further, saying, “It was selfish. It was you not thinking about anyone but yourself. And that’s a feeling I know too well.” Ouch!
The responses to the Reddit post regarding this new dialogue appreciated the vulnerability Astarion displayed. Nonetheless, some fans were disappointed by how easily Astarion’s opinion could be influenced.
“Honestly, it’s kinda sad how incredibly easy it is to persuade him to forgive this. You don’t even need to pass any checks, just choose ‘I’m sorry’,” a fan commented, noting that players can convince him to stay without utilizing the Persuasion check.
Conversely, many players have sought to break up with Astarion due to a cringe-worthy Dark Urge pet name.
