A&W, a popular casual dining brand, recently announced a new promotion where they will be giving away free root beer floats for life to individuals over the age of 100.
Indeed, you read that correctly. Despite A&W’s reputation for offering great deals, such as complimentary root beers on customers’ birthdays, the company has never introduced such a unique product.
A&W has reached its 150th anniversary, solidifying its status as the oldest franchise restaurant chain in the United States. The company’s origins can be traced back to 1919, when one of its co-founders, Roy Allen, established his initial root beer stand as a gesture of gratitude to returning World War 1 soldiers.
Ever since, A&W has established itself as one of the most well-liked casual dining spots in America.

To commemorate the event, A&W is offering free root beer floats for life to customers who are 100 years old or older. This equates to around 108,000 Americans who fulfill the age criteria being eligible to benefit from the offer.
To take part, customers simply need to visit their nearby A&W restaurant and bring a form of identification to confirm their eligibility.
Don’t worry if you are not in this age bracket. You can still enjoy A&W’s annual free root beer float on your birthday by becoming a member of Rooty’s Mug Club. Simply visit awrestaurants.com/100 and follow the prompts to register and join the club.
As a member, you can also benefit from various deals, including some of the chain’s most popular menu items like burgers and cheese curds.
This summer, TGI Friday’s is also joining in on the giving spirit as they are offering the chance for 21 lucky diners to receive free meals for an entire year. A&W is not the only dining chain participating in this generous promotion.
