On April 29th, IVE unveiled their latest EP album “IVE SWITCH”on multiple music platforms at 6 p.m.
Through their double title tracks “HEYA”and “Accendio”, the group displayed their musical growth and maturity. Furthermore, the b-side tracks received positive feedback, with fans especially drawn to the lyrics of “Blue Heart”which were written solely by Jang Won-young.
The song “Blue Heart”by IVE conveys the distinctive characteristics of the group. Many online users speculated that the female vocalist was taking a stand against false and concerning statements.
After a lengthy legal battle, Starship Entertainment, the agency representing IVE, was able to obtain information about the owner of the YouTube channel ‘Sojang’. This was the result of the agency’s multiple requests to Google headquarters in the US, as they had filed a lawsuit against the YouTuber for spreading false information about Jang Won-young.
Despite Sojagn’s deletion of their channel and issuing of an official apology, the court ultimately ruled in favor of Jang Won-young and ordered the YouTuber to pay 100 million won in compensation in the initial trial. However, Sojang has filed an appeal against the ruling of the first trial.
Hence, there is speculation among netizens that Jang Won-young specifically penned the lyrics with Sojang in mind. They showed their support and excitement through comments such as “I’m cheering for Jang Won-young”, “The lyrics are amazing”, “The entire song has a cool vibe”, “This is true hip-hop”, and more.
During the comeback live broadcast, Jang Won-young also explained the meaning behind their new song “Blue Heart,”stating that it celebrates strong and confident women. The lyrics convey the message of choosing a blue heart, which represents strength and calmness, over a warm red heart. Jang Won-young also expressed that the emotions portrayed in the song may resonate with those who have gone through many experiences. She kindly asked the audience to listen to the song frequently.
Meanwhile, since their debut with “Eleven”, IVE has consistently released hit songs such as “Love Dive”, “After LIKE”, “I Am”, and “Baddie”. Their latest release, “HEYA”, has also gained the attention of music listeners and debuted at No.13 on Melon Top 100.
