Baby Reindeer: Deciphering the Misconceptions Behind Netflix Criticism by Body Language Experts

A team of prominent body language experts have collaborated to offer their perspectives on the ongoing Baby Reindeer controversy, refuting the claim that Netflix and Richard Gadd are at fault.

Last week, when interviewed by Fiona Harvey, Piers Morgan contended that the streaming service and Gadd had made a major error by promoting Baby Reindeer as a “true story.”

After Harvey was revealed as the supposed “true Martha,”she denied ever being convicted of stalking and disputed several aspects portrayed in the Netflix show. If this is proven to be true, Morgan believed she may have a basis to file a lawsuit.

Despite this, the latest episode from The Behavior Panel, consisting of the world’s foremost body language and behavior specialists Scott Rouse, Mark Bowden, Chase Hughes, and Greg Hartley, has presented a counterargument.

While analyzing Harvey’s appearance on Uncensored, Bowden clarified, “Netflix explicitly states at the beginning that this is a true story, implying that it is an unquestionable representation of reality in black and white.”

It is important to note that the Netflix show concludes with a statement that it is based on a true story.

At the beginning of something, it is common for a dramatic convention to state, “This is a true story.”Similar to when a magician on TV claims, “I am not using any stooges. These are all regular members of the public.”In reality, they are all actors.

Rouse also pointed out, “Let’s not forget what he said right before that. He explicitly stated, ‘I am not a mentalist, I am not anything.’ And true to his word, he proceeded to do exactly what he had promised.”

“Indeed,”Bowden responded. “In drama, it is customary to preface a story with ‘This is a true story,’ but it is understood that this is merely a convention and not an actual true story. This is often acknowledged at the end.”

Despite this, Bowden continued to emphasize the problem of delusional disorder, which he describes as a situation in which someone is presented with undeniable facts, but they refuse to accept them as true.

He asked, “Who among us is suffering from delusional disorder? Is it the writer, Richard Gadd? Perhaps it’s Harvey, the person we are currently observing. Or could it be Netflix?”

The situation is difficult as everyone seems to firmly believe that their opinions are based on undeniable facts, while also considering opposing viewpoints to be false. It is challenging to come to a resolution in this environment.

“In my view, these are just my personal opinions. I encourage you to examine the situation yourself and form your own thoughts. However, I believe there could be some delusional disorders at play, possibly involving all parties involved.”
