Fiona Harvey, known as Baby Reindeer and dubbed “real-life Martha,”has followed through on her vow to take legal action against Netflix and Richard Gadd. Her attorney has released a statement regarding the matter.
Since Baby Reindeer gained the title of being the most-watched show on Netflix earlier this year, many events have taken place. Piers Morgan Uncensored recently aired an interview with Fiona Harvey, the woman who was accused of being the real-life Martha Scott, in order to clarify any misunderstandings.
Despite dismissing multiple allegations regarding the show’s authenticity and fictional plots, Harvey additionally announced her intentions to take legal action against Netflix and creator Richard Gadd for defamation.
After Harvey’s promise was fulfilled, a legal action for approximately $130 million was set in motion. In his inaugural television appearance regarding the Baby Reindeer case, her attorney Richard Roth asserted that Gadd was accountable for “deliberate wrongdoing.”

According to Roth, this case could potentially be a turning point for streaming TV. When speaking to Morgan, he emphasized that his main objective is to generate profits and he sees a significant opportunity to do so in this industry.
One possible reason could be that it is highly unacceptable when someone claims that a story is “true”. If Netflix claims that a story is true, they must ensure that it is indeed true. It is irresponsible of them to do otherwise.
“Moreover, Fiona Harvey, whom you’ve interviewed on your show, has been greatly affected by this as well. She has received death threats and has become fearful of leaving her apartment.”
Based on the opening titles of Baby Reindeer, which state that the show is based on a true story and includes real messages supposedly sent from Harvey to Gadd, Netflix heavily portrays Harvey as a convicted criminal in the case.
Despite the discovery of numerous articles and tweets about Harvey under her previous name, Fiona Muir, there has been no evidence of any convictions or police records.
Roth added that there are obvious falsehoods in the story, which are highly incriminating. Therefore, one important consideration is what steps Netflix took to confirm the authenticity of the story, as it is obviously not true.
Harvey is reportedly hesitant to venture out and purchase groceries.
