British television personality and writer Richard Osman has addressed the ongoing conversations surrounding Baby Reindeer, stating that the identity of Richard Gadd’s true abuser is common knowledge.
In the past month, the show gained worldwide popularity after its release on Netflix. The main focus of the series is on Donny Dunn (Gadd), a struggling comedian who becomes the victim of a serial stalker named Martha (Jessica Gunning).
In addition to being the creator and lead actor, Gadd drew inspiration from his own personal experiences to develop Baby Reindeer. Despite deliberately altering the names of the characters, fans continued to eagerly search for their real-life counterparts.
The focus quickly turned from the “actual Martha”to the perpetrator, portrayed as Darrien (Tom Goodman-Hill) in the Netflix series.
Richard Gadd has asked fans to stop speculating
Despite being caught in the crosshairs, British director and comedian Sean Foley received a personal message from Gadd on social media denying the accusations and requesting an end to the speculation.
Despite the calming of the uproar, Richard Osman, renowned for his role as the originator and former host of the UK game show Pointless, has added his perspective on the issue.
During a recent episode of his podcast The Rest Is Entertainment, he confided in co-host Marina Hyde that “it is common knowledge who he is referring to” and that Gadd had been “transparent with individuals in the industry” regarding the identity of his sexual abuser.
“According to Osman, there was a highly significant event that occurred during Richard Gadd’s performance in Edinburgh. Gadd has been transparent with members of the industry about the identity of the individual involved, thus leading to widespread awareness within the industry.”
“Although that person has not been prosecuted and has never gone to trial, it is a well-known fact who he is referring to.”

Osman then proceeds to mention a comedy producer who was falsely accused, potentially alluding to Foley. “The truth has now come to light and a completely different individual has been identified, someone who has previously worked with Richard Gadd, but is certainly not the same person,”Osman elaborates.
“However, the individual they have chosen for the role bears a striking resemblance to another man who has been wrongfully accused. This decision is strange and perplexing, as it has resulted in the innocent man receiving death threats and having to publicly deny any involvement.”
Osman emphasizes that the person in question is definitely not Foley, as those in the industry are aware of who it truly is.
